Job Description
This position's duties will include assisting the Financial Aid Director. Interview students seeking financial assistance; perform needs analyses; assist in packaging of awards, which includes completion of Federal, state, and private scholarship applications. Accept financial aid applications and forms; review for completeness and accuracy; verify information reported on student applications to determine eligibility for various awards. Monitor and budget federal work-study students as appropriate, check for satisfactory progress for financial aid students. Operate computer and financial aid software to update and maintain student records and prepare award notifications and other related reports. Apply financial aid policy to identify students who have exceeded funding limitations; assist in process of financial aid appeals. Maintain a level of confidentiality regarding documents received and other matters involving students and financial aid in compliance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA). Interpret, apply, and comply with federal and state regulations governing student financial aid. Maintain current knowledge of guidelines/regulations related to financial aid. Respond to technical questions and provide financial aid eligibility information to student's staff, and the public. Maintain close working relationships with Admissions and Records, Counseling, Student Support Services, and other campus offices and other colleges or agencies. Award scholarships based on need and availability. Perform other duties assigned by the Director of Financial Aid, Dean and Vice President.
Minimum Qualifications
  • AA/AS degree from a regionally accredited institution.
  • Ability to organize successfully/accurately and prioritize a wide variety of assignments, with emphasis on processing skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to work under deadline requirements.
  • Computer literacy in the use of personal computers is required.
  • Ability and a functional knowledge of word processing, spreadsheets, data entry, or database management.
  • Maintain complex filing systems and records.
  • Excellent analytical problem solving and customer service skills.
  • Ability to read and understand federal and state regulations and guidelines.
  • Ability to work with a diverse student body

Preferred Qualifications
One or more years of financial aid experience preferred.
