Salary ranges vary based on experience, location, and industry, but understanding these differences helps job seekers target the right roles and compensation expectations.

What are some common challenges faced by AI assistants in managing multiple tasks for different stakeholders?

AI Assistants often support several team members or departments simultaneously, which can make task prioritization and time management challenging. Balancing conflicting priorities, responding to urgent requests, and adapting to varying communication styles are frequent hurdles. Effective AI Assistants develop strong organizational systems and maintain open communication to clarify expectations and ensure critical deadlines are met. Over time, experience and feedback help refine these skills, making the role both dynamic and rewarding.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an AI assistant, and why are they important?

To thrive as an AI Assistant, you need strong analytical thinking, natural language processing skills, and a solid understanding of machine learning concepts, often supported by a degree in computer science or a related field. Familiarity with programming languages like Python, AI frameworks such as TensorFlow or PyTorch, and experience with cloud platforms are typically required. Excellent problem-solving abilities, adaptability, and effective collaboration help AI Assistants stand out in multidisciplinary teams. These skills are important to develop intelligent, user-friendly systems that address real-world challenges efficiently.

What is the average salary of an AI assistant?

The average salary of an AI Assistant can vary depending on the specific role, industry, and level of experience. Generally, AI Assistants who work in technical roles such as Natural Language Processing or Machine Learning engineering can earn between $70,000 and $120,000 per year in the United States. Non-technical AI Assistant positions, such as those supporting administrative tasks through AI tools, typically have salaries ranging from $40,000 to $60,000. Factors such as location, company size, and demand for AI skills also impact salary ranges. It's important to review current job postings and industry reports for the most up-to-date information.

Job description

About Gen Digital and LifeLock
Gen (NASDAQ: GEN) is a global company dedicated to powering Digital Freedom through its trusted consumer brands including Norton, Avast, LifeLock, MoneyLion and more. Our combined heritage is rooted in financial empowerment and cyber safety for the first digital generations, and today we deliver award-winning cybersecurity, online privacy, identity protection and financial wellness solutions to nearly 500 million users in more than 150 countries.
Together, we share a collective passion and vision to protect consumers and help them grow, manage and secure their digital and financial lives. We're always looking for smart, fearless and high-impact talent who see AI as a teammate - leveraging it to move faster and deliver meaningful results.
When you're part of Gen, you'll have the flexibility, tools and support to do your best work and grow your career - from flexible working options and time off to competitive pay, benefits and well-being programs.
At Gen, we are scrappy and relentlessly customer driven. We create room for healthy debate, experimentation and continuous learning, and we seek out people with different experiences, identities and ideas to join our team. You'll work with people who back each other, respect each other and understand that our differences are a competitive advantage.
If this sounds like you, we'd love you to be part of Gen.
About the Role
LifeLock is growing, and mobile and AI Assistant are the primary surface where members experience the product every day. We're looking for a Lead Product Manager to own the mobile platform and lead the build-out of our AI Assistant, a new capability that will redefine how members interact with their identity protection.
This is a senior individual contributor / lead PM role. You'll set the direction for iOS and Android, define and evolve the AI Assistant towards an agentic approach, and represent LifeLock mobile in Gen Digital-wide platform initiatives. You'll work across engineering, design, legal, finance, DTC and marketing to get things built and into members' hands.
Key Responsibilities
Mobile Platform
  • Own the iOS and Android roadmap, what gets built, when it ships, and how it sequences against business goals
  • Make prioritization calls: features vs. tech debt, scope cuts in a release, sequencing against a small engineering team
  • Handle App Store and Play Store submissions, store listing content, platform mandates, and release issues
  • Manage in-app purchase flows, SKU creation, and monetization via IAP a channel
  • Drive growth levers: web-to-app conversion and download hooks in onboarding

AI Assistant
  • Define the vision and roadmap for an agentic assistant that helps LifeLock members on their identity risks
  • Build and own the eval framework: define what good looks like for AI responses, instrument quality metrics, design human and automated eval pipelines, and establish feedback loops that continuously improve the assistant
  • Partner with ML/AI engineering to set model behavior standards including accuracy, tone, safety, and response quality
  • Instrument the assistant for post-launch learning: flag regressions, surface win/loss patterns, and drive iterative improvement with data

Cross-functional & Platform
  • Represent LifeLock mobile in Gen Digital platform initiatives integrated Norton/LifeLock app, shared platform components, Mobile SDK
  • Coordinate with Legal, Compliance, Finance, Retention Marketing, and CS to get features across the line
  • Build business cases with Finance for major investments; track ROI post-launch

About you
  • 10+ years in product management; 4+ years owning a mobile product at scale (iOS + Android)
  • Proven track record shipping consumer mobile features end-to-end
  • Direct experience building or scaling an AI/LLM-powered product, including defining eval frameworks, quality metrics, and human feedback pipelines
  • Comfort working in a complex, regulated environment (fintech, identity, or security a plus)
  • Strong analytical instincts, you define KPIs before launch, not after, and you use data to make calls, not just reports
  • Experience with IAP, App Store management, and mobile growth mechanics (ATT, web-to-app, deep linking)
  • Able to operate at multiple altitudes: strategy and roadmap one day, grooming tickets and reviewing acceptance criteria the next
  • Experience with A/B testing and conversion optimization on mobile purchase flows

Nice to Have
  • Familiarity with Gen Digital's platform (Norton, LifeLock) or adjacent identity/security products
  • Prior work on 0→1 features in a large-scale consumer app

Why This Role
LifeLock has strong product-market fit with a growing member base. Mobile is where the experience lives. AI is where the experience is going. This role sits at both intersections with real ownership, a clear charter, and direct impact on member growth and retention metrics.
Location: Mountain View, CA (Hybrid)
The annual base salary for this position is expected to be between $220,000 and $250,000. Base salary is one component of Gen's total compensation package, which includes 401(k) match, health insurance options, disability coverage, life insurance, and unlimited paid time off. Actual salaries will vary based on a candidate's qualifications, experience, skills, and competencies related to the role.
What's Next
  • TA Call
  • Hiring Manager Interview (Virtual)
  • Cross-functional Panel / Product Case Exercise
  • Final Interview (Virtual or face-to-face)
