Job description

VAI is seeking a curious, analytical, and technology-focused Data, BI & AI Analyst to support the organization's growing use of data, business intelligence, and artificial intelligence. This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career professional who is passionate about data and emerging technologies and wants to help shape innovative solutions that support organizational decision-making.
In this role, you will work closely with VAI's Technical Director and stakeholders across the organization to support business intelligence initiatives, contribute to the development of the DAVE data program, and assist with the implementation of AI tools and workflows. The position offers significant learning and growth opportunities as VAI continues to expand its data and analytics capabilities.
What You'll Do
Business Intelligence & Reporting
  • Support Zoho Analytics rollout and ongoing adoption.
  • Create, maintain, and improve dashboards and reports across departments.
  • Collect, validate, analyze, and document data for organizational reporting.
  • Partner with staff to identify reporting needs and improvement opportunities.

DAVE Data Program Support
  • Assist with data collection, research, cleaning, and analysis.
  • Prepare data for dashboards, reports, and visualizations.
  • Document data sources, requirements, and assumptions.
  • Support new data use cases, analytics opportunities, and AI/ML initiatives.

AI & Technology Initiatives
  • Support implementation of approved AI tools and workflows.
  • Help staff use AI tools responsibly and effectively.
  • Create prompts, templates, workflow examples, and use-case documentation.
  • Follow AI governance, privacy, and data-use standards.

Data Quality & Documentation
  • Monitor data quality and escalate integrity issues.
  • Assist with audits, reconciliations, and cleanup efforts.
  • Create user guides, process documentation, and training materials.
  • Support additional data, BI, AI, and reporting projects as needed.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent education in Data Analytics, Computer Science, Information Systems, Statistics, Machine Learning, Business Intelligence, or a related field.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Working knowledge of Excel, data analysis, data cleaning, reporting concepts, and related tools such as SQL, Python, BI platforms, data visualization, or machine learning.
  • Interest in artificial intelligence, practical business applications of AI, and continued learning in emerging technologies.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with BI tools, dashboards, data visualization, analytics, machine learning, or AI through work, academic, internship, or project experience.
  • Interest in aviation, association management, safety programs, or industry data initiatives.

Work Environment and Travel
  • Hybrid work environment; in-office once per week or as needed based.
  • Must be able to work out of the corporate headquarters in Alexandria, VA.
  • Limited travel required. Current expectations include approximately one domestic trade show and one to three international trips annually, though travel requirements may vary based on organizational priorities.
