Who are we?

AGY is a highly specialized manufacturer of precision ultrafine glass fiber reinforcements used in advanced composites. The Aiken, SC plant produces approximately 1,000,000 miles of glass fiber reinforcement per day and operates on a 24/7/365 schedule. We are an agile, flexible, small-batch manufacturer able to meet the diverse technical requirements of our global client base. Our engineers and scientists have reinvented ultrafine glass fiber reinforcement manufacturing with proprietary, eco-friendly processes. Most notably, many of our production processes qualify as zero carbon footprint activities and the Aiken site has reduced its carbon footprint by 88% since 2002.

The Job

Performs mechanical maintenance skills on any plant equipment, facility, and/or process,
in addition to performing incidental work including Basic Electrical Skills.
Completes projects with little or no supervision.
Skilled in the use of all shop tools and equipment.
Installs, maintains, repairs, trouble-shoots plant equipment, related processes, and facility infrastructure.
Responsible for the accomplishments of work performed by the lower-level jobs of the classification under the direction and authority of the supervisor.

Qualifications:

  • Must have five (5) years of verifiable industrial mechanical experience as a 1st class mechanic or two-year electrical technical degree and related experience.
  • Must successfully complete all AGY's assessment criteria, (including, but not limited to, mechanical equipment series assessment, high school diploma or equivalent. etc.)
  • HS Diploma/GED; Technical Certificate preferred
  • Must pass WorkKeys skill level requirement: Workplace Obs.= 2 or higher, or observation = 3 or higher, Graphic Literacy= 4 or higher, and Applied Tech = 4 or higher
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen
  • Must be able to push, pull, reach, bend, squat, twist, turn, climb, work overhead, wear required PPE, and work in a hot, confined environment
  • Must be able work various shifts including nights, weekends and overtime
