Your Job
DEPCOM is currently hiring a Civil Estimator. This position ideally will be based in our Houston, TX, Scottsdale, AZ, or Bedminster, NJ office; however, remote work within the U.S. is an option. This position is not eligible for VISA Sponsorship.
What You Will Do
As a Civil Estimator at DEPCOM Power, you will help develop accurate, detailed project estimates that support our solar and battery energy storage projects. You will work closely with business development, engineering, and project delivery teams to prepare competitive estimates that align with project execution strategies and business objectives.
  • Support the refinement of civil estimating processes and templates to improve accuracy and efficiency.
  • Develop detailed civil cost estimates for solar and battery energy storage system (BESS) projects.
  • Maintain estimating tools, historical cost data, and productivity assumptions used to prepare estimates.
  • Prepare project cost estimates aligned with RFP requirements for utility-scale renewable energy projects.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to evaluate project opportunities and optimize project costs.
  • Identify project risks and support development of mitigation strategies.
  • Participate in pre-bid meetings, client discussions, and estimate review sessions.
  • Conduct site visits as needed and document findings that improve estimate quality and project planning.

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)
  • Experience in heavy civil construction, estimating, construction management, and/or project management.
  • Knowledge of cost estimating practices and estimating software such as InEight or similar platforms.
  • Experience using takeoff software such as Bluebeam, AgTek, or similar tools.
  • Understanding of earthwork, foundations, roads, drainage, and site development activities.
  • Experience preparing or supporting project estimates for construction projects.

What Will Put You Ahead
  • Experience supporting civil construction projects within commercial, renewable energy, or utility-scale solar environments.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills.
  • Experience working with field and engineering teams to improve estimating accuracy.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business, or a related field.
  • Experience leveraging generative AI to streamline workflows and improve outcomes.

For this role, we anticipate paying $110,000 - $150,000 per year. This role is eligible for variable pay, issued as a monetary bonus or in another form.
