Location: Mesa, AZ
Job Type: Full-Time
Pay: Starting at $65,000 DOE + Full Benefits Package

Position Summary

Kinkaid Civil Construction is seeking a motivated Project Engineer – Underground Wet Utilities to support the successful execution of heavy civil construction projects from preconstruction through project closeout. This position works closely with Project Managers, Superintendents, subcontractors, and field personnel to help manage project documentation, scheduling, budgeting, procurement, subcontract administration, and overall project coordination.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Assist Project Managers with the planning, execution, and closeout of heavy civil construction projects.
  • Prepare and manage Requests for Information (RFIs), submittals, change orders, and project documentation.
  • Coordinate material procurement, purchase orders, subcontract agreements, and vendor communications.
  • Assist with project budgeting, forecasting, cost tracking, and monthly financial reporting.
  • Review project plans, specifications, contracts, and bid documents to ensure project compliance.
  • Track project schedules, milestones, and deliverables while communicating progress with project teams.
  • Coordinate with Superintendents and field personnel to support daily construction operations.
  • Attend project meetings with owners, engineers, municipalities, subcontractors, and consultants.
  • Assist with permitting, inspections, utility coordination, and project closeout documentation.
  • Maintain organized project files and ensure accurate documentation throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Support safety initiatives by promoting compliance with company safety policies and project requirements.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support project success.


Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field preferred, or equivalent construction experience.
  • 1–3 years of experience in heavy civil construction, underground utilities, or related construction projects preferred.
  • Basic understanding of construction plans, specifications, contracts, and project documentation.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced construction environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.


Preferred Requirements

  • Experience with underground wet utility construction including water, sewer, and storm drain projects.
  • Experience with Procore, Bluebeam, HCSS, AGTEK, or other construction management software.
  • OSHA 10 certification.
  • Internship or previous experience with a heavy civil contractor.
  • Familiarity with municipal and public works construction projects.
  • EIT certification is a plus.
