Job Title:Paramedic

Department: Operations 

Reports To:Field Supervisor (M1) 

Date Revised:10/01/2025 

Summary:  

A Paramedic is accountable for responding to all assigned calls and providing advanced life support care to patients within their scope of practice and standing orders. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:  

  • Assess and treat patients using appropriate techniques, equipment, and clinical judgment, while adhering to established protocols and maintaining the highest standard of ALS care
  • Operate emergency vehicles safely and within regulations. 
  • Document activities regarding patient care and billing completely and accurately to ensure appropriate information is available regarding each call 
  • Communicate effectively with dispatchers, healthcare professionals, and other emergency personnel. 
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations. 
  • Attend and complete all required continuing education (CE) or training assignments on a monthly basis 

 Non-Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Participate in community outreach programs and public education events 
  • Performs other such duties as may be required.  
  • Assist in the training and orientation of new hires or students. 
  • Serve as a liaison for special events requiring standby EMS coverage.   

Education and Certification Qualifications:  

  • High school diploma or equivalent  
  • Current EMT-P certification (state and/or national) 
  • Valid Driver’s License with an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) in accordance with TRAA policy. 
  • Current CPR Certification (AHA or equivalent) 
  • ACLS, AMLS, PHTLS, and PEPP (or equivalent)
  • AAS preferred, but not required

  

Physical Requirements:  

  • Must be able to successfully pass Physical Agility Test 
  • Able to frequently lift and/or carry weights exceeding 100 pounds. 

  

Working Environment:  

  • Works outdoors and indoors with occasional exposure to hazardous conditions and to blood/body fluids 
  • Performs duties and responsibilities within confined and mobile spaces
