To thrive as an Agile Project Scrum Master, you need a solid understanding of Agile methodologies, Scrum processes, and project management principles, often supported by a Scrum Master certification (such as CSM or PSM). Familiarity with tools like Jira, Trello, or Asana is typical for managing backlogs, sprints, and team progress. Exceptional facilitation, communication, and conflict resolution skills help foster collaboration and remove obstacles for the team. These competencies are crucial for ensuring effective Agile delivery, continuous improvement, and the overall success of project outcomes.

How does a Scrum Master typically facilitate collaboration between cross-functional teams in an Agile environment?

A Scrum Master plays a crucial role in fostering collaboration by organizing and moderating regular Scrum ceremonies such as daily stand-ups, sprint planning, reviews, and retrospectives. They help remove impediments, encourage open communication, and ensure all team members—including developers, testers, and product owners—are aligned on project goals. By promoting transparency and a culture of continuous improvement, Scrum Masters help teams stay focused and work effectively together to deliver high-quality products.

They help coordinate and guide the team through Agile practices, ensuring that the team adheres to Scrum principles and values. The Scrum Master removes obstacles, fosters collaboration, and acts as a bridge between the development team and stakeholders. Their goal is to support the team in delivering high-quality products efficiently and continuously improving processes.

Details:
Agile Project manager /Scrum Master
Location: Remote project
Duration: 6-12 months
Job Title: Manager Agile Program Management (combination of Project manager / Scrum Master)
Project Overview: An agile team focused on identifying opportunities for modernizing the client's retail store management system and executing on them. In the first 6 weeks the team will focus on exploring the existing store management solution and defining the roadmap for improvements. Through the remainder of the year the team will execute against the roadmap in an agile fashion.
This need is essentially a bit of an Agile Program Manager / Scrum Master role. This person need to be able to holistically look over this entire program but also needs to be the scrum master for the squad that is executing (there is no separate scrum master role as the program is too small for both of those roles). Top skill sets required for this role:
  • Experience as an Agile Program Manager and/or Scrum Master
  • Experience managing a technical delivery team
  • Experience executing scrum with a remote/globally distributed team

Detailed Job Description:
  • Lead global, cross-disciplinary teams to deliver integrated client solutions that achieve measurable results for our clients
  • Own the delivery process end to end, overseeing continuous improvement and enacting changes when appropriate
  • Facilitate discussions at stand ups, agile/scrum ceremonies, and conflict resolution meetings
  • Work with product managers and the delivery team to ensure common priorities, manage dependencies and remove impediments
  • Identify, manage, and mitigate project issues and risks
  • Coach the team towards adopting and understanding scrum and work with other Scrum Masters to increase the effectiveness of the application in the organization.

Experience:
  • Experience with managing technical agile teams delivering software solutions is a must
  • Well versed in Agile delivery methodology
  • Hands-on delivery experience working on Jira, Confluence and Azure DevOps (ADO)
  • Experience with managing technical agile teams delivering software solutions is a must
