What is an agile delivery director?

An Agile Delivery Director is a senior leader responsible for overseeing the delivery of products or projects using Agile methodologies. They ensure teams follow Agile principles, remove obstacles, and foster continuous improvement to deliver high-quality results efficiently. This role typically involves managing multiple teams, aligning delivery with business goals, and communicating progress to stakeholders. Agile Delivery Directors also coach teams and leaders on best practices and help shape the organization's Agile strategy.

How does an agile delivery director typically interact with cross-functional teams to ensure project success?

An Agile Delivery Director plays a pivotal role in facilitating communication and collaboration among cross-functional teams, such as product owners, scrum masters, developers, and business stakeholders. They often coordinate regular meetings, remove impediments, and align team efforts with organizational goals to drive project delivery. By fostering an environment of transparency and continuous improvement, the Agile Delivery Director ensures that teams adhere to Agile principles and deliver high-quality products on time. Successful directors frequently mentor team members and encourage knowledge sharing to support both current projects and long-term professional growth.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an agile delivery director, and why are they important?

To thrive as an Agile Delivery Director, you typically need expertise in agile methodologies, project management, and stakeholder engagement, often supported by a bachelor's degree and agile certifications like SAFe or Scrum Master. Familiarity with tools such as Jira, Confluence, and project tracking systems is vital for managing workflows and team collaboration. Exceptional leadership, communication, and conflict resolution skills help you inspire teams and align diverse stakeholders. These competencies are crucial for delivering projects efficiently, fostering an agile culture, and ensuring business objectives are met.

Job description

Job Title: Director of Agile Delivery Management

Location: Austin, Texas

Reports To: Sr. Director of Strategy & Product Operations

Company: Accruent

About Accruent

Accruent is a global leader in intelligent assets, facilities, and real estate management software, helping organizations connect their physical world to their digital future. Our platform powers mission‑critical operations for thousands of customers worldwide, from Fortune 500 enterprises to fast‑growing disruptors. Backed by Fortive (NYSE: FTV), we combine the agility of a SaaS innovator with the scale and discipline of an established global enterprise. At Accruent, we’re building technology that enables customers to make smarter, faster, data‑driven decisions.

Position Overview

At the heart of our mission is a simple belief: complex software development should be predictable, transparent, and efficient. We are seeking a Director of Agile Delivery Management to be the architect of that operational excellence. In this role, you will bridge the gap between high‑level strategic vision and the tactical, everyday execution of our product teams. You will lead, mentor, and inspire a multidisciplinary team of program managers and agile practitioners, serving as the connective tissue across the organization to ensure every release delivers business value with speed and precision. If you are a rigorous leader who can balance the discipline of Agile frameworks with the flexibility required in a high‑growth SaaS environment, we’ve built a seat at the table just for you.

What You’ll Do
  • Delivery Strategy & Governance: Define and evangelize an enterprise‑wide Agile framework that aligns with our long‑term company goals and sets a new standard for our vast portfolio of products.
  • Team Leadership: Recruit, mentor, and scale a high‑performing team of Program Managers, fostering a culture of radical transparency, relentless improvement, and operational discipline.
  • Agile Rituals & Process: Direct the optimization of our delivery rituals (Scrum, Kanban, PI Planning), ensuring seamless flow from discovery to deployment through mature, data‑driven methodology.
  • Continuous Improvement & Learning: Drive a continuous improvement culture through postmortems, retrospectives and accountable action tracking.
  • Release Predictability: Lead cross‑functional coordination to uncover dependencies, manage risks, and ensure predictable release cycles across complex, interconnected product lines.
  • Workflow Optimization: Spearhead a culture of data‑informed execution, utilizing velocity metrics, cycle time analysis, and flow efficiency to optimize delivery performance and business outcomes.
  • AI‑Enabled Delivery: Integrate cutting‑edge tools into our delivery lifecycle to automate reporting, identify bottlenecks, and enhance forecasting accuracy.
  • Cross‑Functional Orchestration: Work in lockstep with Product Management and Engineering leadership to balance speed‑to‑market with technical debt management and operational ROI.
What Success Looks Like
  • Predictability: A consistent ability to deliver on projected roadmap dates by effectively balancing scope, team capacity, and proactive dependency management that establishes trust with internal stakeholders and customers.
  • Operational Velocity: A highly efficient development pipeline where cycle times are optimized and waste is systematically removed.
  • Quality Excellence: A measurable increase in release stability and a reduction in post‑release defects, driven by rigorous agile practices.
  • Relentless Improvement: Reduction of repeat issues, improvements implemented, sustained and measured.
  • Evidence‑Based Delivery: A culture where decisions are driven by real‑time data, usage metrics, and clear performance indicators.
  • Organizational Trust: A unified engine where the Delivery Management function is viewed as a strategic partner to both Engineering and Product leadership.
What You Bring
  • Proven Leadership: 10+ years of experience in Program Management, Engineering Operations, or Agile Delivery, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role scaling high‑performance SaaS delivery teams.
  • Strategic Mindset: A track record of successful product delivery where you led the journey from abstract roadmap to high‑impact, market‑ready releases.
  • Technical Sophistication: Deep expertise in Scrum, Kanban, and SAFe (or similar scaling frameworks), alongside a strong understanding of the software development lifecycle (SDLC).
  • Analytics Fluency: Proficiency in leveraging quantitative data (velocity, burn‑down, throughput) to drive high‑conviction delivery decisions.
  • Stakeholder Mastery: The ability to navigate organizational complexity and communicate the business value of operational excellence to C‑suite stakeholders.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Business, or a related field required; Master’s degree preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in Product‑Led Growth (PLG) environments.
  • Familiarity with modern delivery and management platforms (e.g., Jira, Azure DevOps, Asana, Monday.com).
  • Experience in Lean or Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Background in enterprise SaaS or complex, workflow‑based data products.
  • Experience scaling global delivery teams across multiple time zones and product lines.
Ready to Build What’s Next?

If you’re a growth‑driven delivery leader who thrives on building, scaling, and leading through change - join us. At Accruent, you won’t just manage a process; you’ll define our ability to deliver the future.
