Job description

Work Location: AGI Fabricators – Milwaukee

Division: Manufacturing (Full Time, Exempt)

Under the direction of the Operations Manager, the Estimator is responsible for supporting the project bidding process by preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for custom fabrication projects in industrial and commercial sectors.

Qualifications

  • Education: High School Diploma or GED and/or a degree of certification in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferred
  • Years of Relevant Work Experience: 3+ years’ experience in estimating within a custom fabrication or industrial fabrication environment
  • Physical Job Requirements: Operate the computer, scanners, copiers, and computer software, and the ability to carry up to 50lbs

Key Activities

  1. Understand Project. Review project documentation and discuss with salesperson.
  2. Prepare Estimate. Utilize estimating software to detail cost estimates such as QuickPen, Autobid Mechanical, and Tekla Powerfab, obtain bids from vendors/subcontractors, and achieve customer/Company expectations.
  3. Turnovers. Prepare project documentation, participate in meetings, and assist in preparation of project drawings.
  4. Maintain/Enhance Estimating System and Procedures. Perform periodic reviews of actual vs estimated costs and adjust estimating system to improve accuracy.
  5. Bid Tracer. Enter bid requests and communication bid participation to customers.
  6. Take Offs. Assist Project Managers in forecasting cost at completion.
