ABOUT THE ROLE

Amrize, a leading supplier of high-quality construction materials in the United States, has immediate openings for a Floating Plant Supervisor to support operations within our Aspahlt divison throughout Prince Georges County, Charles County and Anne Arundel County.  A Plant Supervisor is responsible for leading daily asphalt plant operations, ensuring safe, efficient, and cost-effective production while maintaining quality standards and meeting customer demands. This role oversees plant personnel, coordinates production schedules, manages equipment performance, ensures compliance with safety and environmental regulations, and drives continuous improvement initiatives to optimize plant performance


WHAT YOU'LL ACCOMPLISH

  • Lead daily asphalt plant operations to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable production while meeting quality, customer, and business objectives.
  • Supervise, coach, and develop plant employees by promoting accountability, teamwork, and a strong safety-first culture.
  • Oversee asphalt production activities, ensuring proper mix quality, production targets, and timely delivery requirements are achieved.
  • Monitor plant performance, equipment operation, and maintenance needs to maximize uptime, productivity, and operational efficiency.
  • Ensure compliance with all company safety standards, OSHA requirements, environmental regulations, and operational procedures.
  • Manage inventory levels, raw material usage, and production resources to support cost control and uninterrupted operations.
  • Maintain quality control standards by partnering with laboratory and quality teams to ensure products meet specifications.
  • Analyze production data, identify process improvements, and implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance plant performance.
  • Collaborate with dispatch, sales, logistics, and customers to support service commitments and operational needs.
  • Support budgeting efforts through effective labor management, cost control, and efficient resource utilization.
  • Travel between assigned asphalt facilities as needed to provide operational support, maintain plant performance, and assist with business priorities across locations.
  • Provide flexible leadership support at multiple plant locations, adapting to changing operational needs while promoting safety, quality, and production excellence.
  • Promote a positive workplace culture focused on safety, operational excellence, employee engagement, and continuous improvement.
  • Apply strong knowledge of plant equipment, mechanical systems, and maintenance practices within an asphalt, aggregate, ready-mix, or heavy industrial environment.
  • Coordinate preventive maintenance programs, troubleshoot equipment issues, and partner with maintenance teams to minimize downtime and improve plant reliability.
  • Oversee the operation and maintenance of heavy equipment, including conveyors, crushers, loaders, asphalt plant components, and other production-related machinery.
  • Perform basic welding, fabrication, and mechanical repairs or provide direction and support to maintenance personnel as needed.
  • Read and interpret equipment manuals, mechanical drawings, schematics, and blueprints to support troubleshooting, repairs, and operational improvements.
  • Utilize strong mechanical aptitude to identify equipment issues, prioritize repairs, and implement solutions that improve safety, efficiency, and production performance.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to health, safety and environmental policies in all work environments and areas. Promote a culture of safety and exhibit these behaviors.

WHAT WE 'RE LOOKING FOR

  • Education: Bachelor's degree preferred in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Industrial Technology, or a related field; equivalent combination of education, training, and relevant industry experience will be considered.
  • Required Work Experience: Demonstrated experience leading plant operations, supervising production teams, managing safety programs, and driving operational performance.
  • Travel Requirements: Ability and willingness to travel 25-50% between assigned plant locations to provide operational support, leadership, and ensure consistent performance across facilities.
  • Proven experience leading asphalt, aggregate, construction materials, manufacturing, or heavy industrial operations with a strong understanding of plant processes and production requirements.
  • Demonstrated ability to supervise, coach, and develop employees while building a culture focused on safety, accountability, teamwork, and operational excellence.
  • Strong knowledge of asphalt production operations, including plant processes, quality control standards, material handling, and production scheduling.
  • Experience managing daily operations, optimizing productivity, controlling costs, and achieving production goals in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong safety leadership skills with a proven commitment to OSHA compliance, environmental standards, and creating a zero-incident workplace.
  • Ability to analyze operational performance, identify improvement opportunities, and implement solutions that increase efficiency and reliability.
  • Experience coordinating with maintenance teams to support equipment reliability, preventative maintenance, and reduced downtime.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills with the ability to prioritize multiple operational demands and make sound decisions under pressure.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with employees, customers, vendors, and cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to manage inventory, production resources, and operational costs while supporting financial and business objectives.
  • Willingness and ability to travel between assigned plant locations to provide operational support and leadership as needed.


Additional Requirements:

  • Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Amrize approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators. Employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests.
