Forklift Operator - Compost

A Forklift Operator is responsible for safely operating forklifts and other material-handling equipment to move, load, unload, stack, and organize materials within our aggregate, compost, mulch, and recycling facility. The role requires adherence to safety regulations, accurate inventory handling, and efficient movement of goods, assisting with yard operations to ensure efficient production and customer service. This position operates primarily in an outdoor materials processing and recycling facility. Employees may be exposed to dust, noise, heavy equipment traffic, and changing weather conditions. Proper personal protective equipment (PPE) is required at all times.

Operate forklifts and other material-handling equipment in a safe and efficient manner.

Unload trucks with compost, soil blends, and other materials.

Transport materials throughout the yard, warehouse, and production areas.

Organize and maintain inventory in designated storage locations.

Conduct daily equipment inspections and report maintenance or repair needs.

Follow all company safety policies, OSHA regulations, and environmental guidelines.

Assist with inventory counts and maintain accurate records of material movement.

Keep work areas clean, orderly, and free of safety hazards.

Support yard personnel as needed to meet operational goals.

Provide excellent service to customers, vendors, and truck drivers on-site.

High school diploma or GED preferred.

Valid forklift certification or ability to obtain certification.

Previous forklift or heavy equipment operating experience preferred.

Experience working in outdoor industrial, construction, landscaping, recycling, or aggregate environments is a plus.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Strong commitment to workplace safety.
