About the Role:

Reporting to the VP, Payroll & Benefits this position would be responsible for overseeing full cycle payroll & benefits for OEGโ€™s Sports & Entertainment in Canada.

Your Focus in this Role:

  • Responsible for and oversee full payroll cycle including processing, posting to the GL, reconciliations, variance analysis, as well as some benefit administration.
  • Responsible for ensuring payroll functions are delivered consistently and effectively to salaried and hourly staff, across multiple jurisdictions in Canada.
  • Building, creating, and developing adequate processes, procedures and financial controls within the payroll department and ensure they are functioning, maintained, and monitored to minimize risk and error as well as compliance.
  • Implementing processes to ensure the accuracy and maintenance of all employee data and payment records. Ensuring data protection measures are in place to safeguard employee information.
  • Providing leadership, guidance, training, and mentor team members. Foster a positive, engaging and growth-orientated work environment that encourages teamwork, innovation, collaboration, and employee development.
  • Performs calendar year-end related activities, including updating taxable benefits, producing T4โ€™s.
  • Responsible for accurate tax payment for all payroll activities which requires a thorough understanding of all compliance regulations for all tax agencies.
  • Manage year end audit, including month end and year end closing accruals and account reconciliation.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

Education, Experience and Skills:

  • Minimum 3 years supervisory experience
  • 5+ years of experience in processing full cycle payroll
  • Extensive working knowledge of payroll, HRIS systems is preferred, experience with UKG and Great Plains would be an asset
  • Capable of handling confidential, sensitive and personal information
  • Strong planning and organization skills to determine priorities with strict deadlines
  • Well organized with superior attention to detail
  • Highly proficient with Microsoft Office; including advanced Excel
