Age requirements for professional roles typically depend on legal guidelines and company policies. In most cases, candidates must be at least 18 years old to ensure compliance with labor laws and workplace safety standards. Some positions—especially those involving driving, hazardous materials, or age-restricted products—may have higher minimum age requirements. It's important to review the job listing and check with the employer to clarify any specific age criteria before applying. Meeting the minimum age requirement is usually a prerequisite for progressing in the hiring process.

What is the age requirement for most jobs?

The minimum age requirement for most jobs in the United States is typically 14 years old, though some states or employers may set higher minimums. For hazardous occupations or certain industries like alcohol service or driving, the minimum age is usually 18 or 21. Employers must follow both federal and state labor laws, so it's important to check the rules in your specific area. Younger workers may also face restrictions on the number of hours they can work during school days and vacations.
