Job Summary

We're seeking qualified applicants for substitute After-School Supervisor positions with the County After-School Activities (CASA) program and Youth After-School (YAS) program. CASA and YAS are highly respected after-school programs serving Loudoun County's elementary and middle school-aged youth for over 30 years. Our team celebrates diversity, whether cultural, linguistic, or ability-related, to ensure every child feels welcome, respected, and included. After-School Supervisors assist in the planning and implementation of recreational activities such as indoor and outdoor games, arts and crafts, holiday-themed and special projects, as well as quieter activities like snacks and homework time for children. After-School Supervisors also supervise other programming staff, including Leaders and Aides. A successful candidate will be enthusiastic about problem-solving and operate with a team mindset.
We are currently hiring for the following location(s):

  • Positions are available at various sites in Loudoun County. Applicants must be willing to work at multiple programming sites. Options are listed in the supplemental questions of the application.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Oversee recreational programs for children by ordering supplies, implementing goals, and ensuring safety compliance standards are met
  • Supervising staff performance.
  • Develop or follow established curriculum plans, facilitate activities, group games, and reading time following the needs of the children.
  • Provide a welcoming and safe environment for children and perform daily health checks, handle food service items, and emergency procedures.
  • Other essential job functions unique to the position and department assignment may be carried out.

Please include all employment and volunteer experience working with or supervising children in childcare, recreation, and educational settings
Hiring salary is commensurate with experience.
The CASA program operates Monday-Friday, 2:00 p.m.- 6:00 p.m., and the YAS program operates Monday-Friday, 3:15 pm - 6:15 pm, following Loudoun County's Public Schools' academic (10-month) year calendar.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or a child-related field such as Elementary Education, Nursing, or Recreation; one (1) year of program experience supervising children or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree preferred in a related field and six (6) months of program experience supervising children.
  • Bilingual skills preferred.

Job Contingencies and Special Requirements

Must undergo pre-employment, criminal, and fingerprinting background checks. First Aid (Infant through Adult)/CPR certifications prior to hire or within 30 days of hire. Pass TB screening questions prior to hire and every two years thereafter. Must complete a sworn disclosure statement or affirmation disclosing any criminal convictions or pending criminal charges upon hire and every (5) years thereafter Bilingual skills preferred.
