After School Program Staff

Part-time position


Perelman Jewish Day School, a Pre-Kindergarten to 5th independent school in the Philadelphia area, is seeking motivated team players to join our community as After School Program Staff for the 2026 - 2027 school year.


The after school program provides a safe and nurturing environment for students to unwind, socialize, and engage in supervised activities after regular school hours. We offer homework assistance, games, arts and crafts, and other age-appropriate activities to keep students engaged and entertained until pickup time.


The After School Program Staff willlead activities and games for the students utilizing their own areas of interests and expertise, with support from the On-Site Supervisor. They will also help create a quiet space for homework, and a positive atmosphere. The After School Program Staff will help facilitate movement of students between the various enrichment activities, dismissal to parents and buses, and will support all aspects of the program.


The ideal candidate for this role enjoys engaging with children in an informal setting and facilitating a range of activities from homework support to recess activities to art projects.


Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Implement after school program activities, including but not limited to homework support, outdoor and indoor recess activities, and support choice activities ranging from games to arts and crafts
  • Utilize attendance apps to manage attendance, student movement, and dismissal
  • Model positive engagement and effective management to maintain the safety and well-being of all students
  • Supervise groups of students with attention to behavior and group management
  • Perform daily tasks such as taking out and cleaning up materials, ensuring rooms are left tidy
  • Meet regularly with the On-Site Supervisor regarding student management and programmatic needs
  • Inform On-Site Supervisor and/or Coordinator of After School Programs of any concerns regarding health and safety
  • Communicate effectively with varied audiences including children, parents, staff, and faculty
  • Administer emergency medications, such as epi-pens and inhalers, and activate emergency protocol as needed


Job Qualifications:


  • At least 3 years of professional or informal experience working with children
  • Have knowledge of developmental needs of young children and appropriate behavior strategies that meet those needs
  • Ability to manage attendance tasks using technology
  • Outstanding interpersonal and organizational skills
  • High-energy and enthusiastic about working in the Jewish day school atmosphere
  • First-aid and CPR certification, or willingness to obtain certification
