Job description

After-School Program Facilitator

Location: Lancaster, PA
Position Type: Part-Time (10–15 hours per week)
Pay Range: $15–$18 per hour

Help Kids Build Confidence Through Hands-On Learning

Are you energetic, dependable, and passionate about working with children? Snapology of Lancaster is seeking an After-School Program Facilitator to lead engaging, hands-on programs that inspire children to build, create, collaborate, and solve problems.

This is a great opportunity for college students, education majors, substitute teachers, paraprofessionals, homeschool parents, retirees, and others looking for meaningful part-time work with a consistent weekly schedule.

Schedule

This position provides approximately 10–15 hours per week across four afternoons and evenings. Typical working hours fall between 2:30 PM and 8:30 PM, with most shifts scheduled between 4:00 PM and 8:00 PM.

A consistent weekly schedule will be established, with minor adjustments possible based on program enrollment and seasonal scheduling.

Additional hours may be available through field trips, birthday parties, camps, Saturday programs, and special events.

What You’ll Do

Lead Engaging Programs
Teach fun, hands-on enrichment classes using Snapology’s provided curriculum, LEGO® bricks, robotics, and other interactive learning materials. No lesson planning is required—we provide the curriculum, training, and materials you need to succeed.

Inspire Young Builders
Create a positive, inclusive environment where children build confidence, creativity, collaboration, and problem-solving skills through hands-on learning.

Facilitate Memorable Experiences
Lead after-school programs at the Snapology Discovery Center and local schools, adapting your instruction to engage children ages 4–14.

Lead and Manage Groups
Give clear instructions, maintain children’s attention, reinforce expectations, and respond appropriately to behavior while ensuring every child feels included and encouraged.

Represent Snapology
Build positive relationships with children, families, and school partners while maintaining a safe, organized, and welcoming learning environment.

Prepare and Wrap Up
Set up program materials before classes and clean and organize the learning space afterward.

What We’re Looking For

Teaching certification is not required. Applicants should have experience leading and managing groups of 10 or more children in a classroom, camp, childcare, youth program, or similar setting.

  • Friendly, outgoing personality with excellent communication skills
  • Confident group-leadership and behavior-management skills
  • Ability to lead activities independently after completing training
  • Availability for four afternoons and evenings each week
  • Reliable transportation to the Snapology Discovery Center and local partner locations
  • Ability to lift and carry program materials weighing up to 20 pounds
  • Ability to obtain and maintain all required clearances, including Pennsylvania State Police, Pennsylvania Child Abuse, and FBI federal background clearances
  • Current Adult and Pediatric CPR, AED, and First Aid certification—or willingness to obtain the required certification after hire
  • Dependable, organized, enthusiastic, and punctual
