Shipping Operations Supervisor - Structural Steel

Shift: Day Shift (may provide support for afternoon operations)

Starting Pay: From $26.00/hour (higher compensation available based on experience)
Position Overview
We are hiring a Shipping Operations Supervisor with experience in structural steel manufacturing and material handling. This role is responsible for coordinating daily shipping activities, leading loadout personnel, and ensuring outbound materials are prepared, documented, and shipped safely and accurately. The ideal candidate has a strong background in steel fabrication environments and experience leading teams in a production setting.
Primary Duties
- Direct daily shipping and loadout operations for structural steel products
- Ensure outbound materials are properly organized, marked, loaded, and secured for transport
- Review shipping paperwork, load documentation, and material identification for accuracy
- Coordinate with production, scheduling, and transportation teams to support delivery timelines
- Maintain shipping records and load information using production management software
- Provide guidance, training, and support to shipping personnel
- Promote and enforce workplace safety procedures and best practices
- Conduct routine safety discussions and support continuous improvement initiatives
- Assist with problem-solving and workflow optimization within the shipping department
- Lead by example in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in structural steel shipping, loadout, or material handling operations
- 2+ years of leadership, lead, or supervisory experience
- Experience operating:
- Overhead cranes
- Forklifts
- Telehandlers
- Vertical mast lifts
- Familiarity with Tekla EPMgo or similar shipping/production tracking software is preferred
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines
- Commitment to safety, quality, and operational excellence
