Security and Event Operations Lead Officer

Job Summary: Pembroke Hill School seeks a dedicated, service-minded security professional to join our team as a Security and Event Operations Lead. Working closely with the Director of Security, this position supports campus safety, visible patrol, event security coordination, and incident response across our K-12 campuses. This is an unarmed, public-facing role focused on maintaining a calm, welcoming, and prepared security presence for students, families, staff, visitors, and vendors.
Key Responsibilities
Campus Security and Patrol
  • Maintain a visible, welcoming, and professional security presence across campus
  • Conduct routine patrols of buildings, parking areas, doors, gates, common spaces, and event areas
  • Support afternoon dismissal, after-school programming, evening activities, and school events during assigned hours
  • Monitor campus activity and report safety, access, or operational concerns
  • Assist with opening, closing, and securing assigned areas as needed

Event Security Coordination
  • Support security coverage for athletic events, performances, meetings, and other school activities
  • Help confirm event posts are covered and communicate needs, gaps, or concerns to the Director of Security
  • Monitor entrances, parking areas, crowd movement, and high-traffic areas
  • Coordinate with Athletics, Facilities, event hosts, and other school staff as needed
  • Maintain a calm, approachable presence that supports safety without disrupting the school environment

Incident Response and Conflict Resolution
  • Respond to calls for service, access concerns, medical issues, suspicious activity, and other campus incidents
  • Use calm, professional de-escalation when interacting with students, families, staff, visitors, and vendors
  • Notify the Director of Security and appropriate school leaders of significant incidents
  • Assist with emergency response procedures, drills, and follow-up as assigned
  • Complete clear, accurate, and timely incident documentation

Communication and Documentation
  • Prepare incident reports, shift notes, and operational updates
  • Communicate professionally by radio, email, phone, and in person
  • Use basic technology including email, spreadsheets, access control tools, camera systems, and incident documentation systems

Qualifications and Requirements
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in security, campus safety, law enforcement, hospitality security, healthcare security, or a similar public-facing safety role
  • Prior experience in a lead, field training, or event coordination capacity preferred
  • Strong customer service, communication, and de-escalation skills
  • Sound judgment and discretion in a K-12 school environment
  • Clear, concise writing and proficiency with incident reports, spreadsheets, and email
  • Eligibility for a KCMO Private Security License, Class A, unarmed, or ability to obtain within 10 days of hire
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation between campus locations
  • Current or obtainable First Aid, CPR, AED, and mandated reporter certifications
  • Must successfully complete required background screening, drug screening, and field training within the first 90 days of employment

Schedule: This is a year-round, Monday-Friday position. The regular schedule is 1:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., designed to support afternoon dismissal, after-school programming, evening activities, and athletic events. Paid time off is provided in accordance with the employee benefit plan.
Compensation and Benefits: $24-$26 per hour, based on experience and qualifications. Physical Demands
This role requires the ability to sit and stand for extended periods, walk, climb stairs, and occasionally run. Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds to shoulder height and 50 pounds to waist height, and occasionally balance, reach, bend, squat, stoop, or kneel. Must be able to hear and communicate clearly in indoor, outdoor, and phone settings, and read and enter data using a computer with or without vision aids.
