THIS POSITION IS A PART OF INTERNATIONAL UNION OF OPERATING ENGINEERS (LOCAL99)

Position Overview: AFTERNOON SHIFT
The Custodian Supervisor is responsible for overseeing janitorial staff and ensuring the cleanliness, safety, and maintenance of assigned facility areas. This role requires strong leadership, attention to detail, and expertise in floor care techniques. The Custodian Supervisor will manage daily cleaning operations, train staff, and uphold high cleanliness standards to maintain a safe and sanitary environment.

Key Responsibilities:

ยท Supervise, train, and schedule custodial staff, ensuring tasks are completed efficiently and effectively.

ยท Inspect work areas to ensure cleanliness and adherence to facility standards.

ยท Oversee cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, and sanitizing surfaces.

ยท Ensure proper floor care, including stripping, waxing, buffing, and carpet cleaning.

ยท Manage supply inventory, order cleaning products, and ensure proper use of equipment and chemicals.

ยท Conduct routine maintenance checks and report safety hazards or repair needs to the appropriate department.

ยท Ensure restrooms and common areas are cleaned, stocked, and maintained properly.

ยท Train staff on proper cleaning techniques, equipment use, and safety procedures.

ยท Develop and implement cleaning schedules and procedures to optimize efficiency.

ยท Address staff or facility concerns and resolve issues in a timely manner.

  • Payroll and ability to sit in meetings.

Qualifications:

- 3 years of experience working as a custodian/janitor.

- Must be fluent in English oral and Written

- OSHA training

- Solid written and verbal forms of communication.

- Must be organized and display effective time management skills.

- Proven experience in custodial or janitorial work, with a focus on floor care.

- Previous supervisory or leadership experience preferred.

- Knowledge of cleaning techniques, equipment operation, and safety regulations.

- Ability to lift and move equipment or supplies as needed.

- Strong organizational and communication skills.

- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

This position plays a vital role in maintaining a clean and safe environment while leading a team to ensure operational success.

- Physical Demands and Work Environment:

Employees will work on-site where the job assignment is and can be exposed to all weather conditions. In addition, employees will work alongside all types of equipment and could be exposed to fumes, dust, and particles. Proper PPE is required. The employee is expected to be able to walk, sit, stand, climb stairs/steps, bend, kneel, stoop, have responsible eyesight, range of motion, hearing and feeling in hands and fingers. Employees will at times be required to use hand tools and various pieces of equipment. Noise levels vary and can become very loud. Employees are required to have the physical stamina to perform under these conditions, as well as other conditions not listed here. An approved uniform must be worn daily - complete with company logo and employee name.
