Job description

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is looking for an experienced and technically deep Senior Solutions Architect to join our Global Financial Services (GFS) team. In this role, you will partner with some of the world's largest banking, insurance, and capital markets companies - alongside AWS Sales and cross-functional teams - to design highly scalable, resilient, and secure cloud architectures that solve real business problems and accelerate AWS adoption.
You will serve as a trusted technical advisor to senior customer stakeholders, helping organizations understand best practices for cloud migration, cloud-native development, and AI adoption. You will also contribute to the broader SA community through mentorship, reusable content, and thought leadership.
We are looking for someone who:
- Brings deep Financial Services domain expertise and a point of view on how cloud and AI are transforming the industry
- Thrives in a collaborative, customer-obsessed environment and enjoys working with large, global enterprise customers
- Is passionate about educating, designing, and building cloud solutions for complex and diverse challenges
- Keeps their technical skills sharp and contributes meaningfully to architectural discussions and design reviews
- Actively develops others and contributes to a culture of learning and inclusion
Key job responsibilities
- Partner with customers to architect, build, and migrate applications, software, and services on the AWS platform
- Work with sales teams to develop and execute strategies that drive AWS adoption and exceed revenue objectives
- Serve as a trusted advisor to senior technical leaders at Financial Services customers, influencing their long-term technology strategy
- Lead architectural discussions and design reviews, ensuring solutions are secure, scalable, cost-optimized, and operationally excellent
- Develop and contribute reusable reference architectures, patterns, and best-practice content for the SA community
- Mentor and develop fellow Solutions Architects, actively contributing to team capability growth
- Act as a Financial Services thought leader through public speaking, written content, and industry engagement on cloud and AI adoption
- Conduct training sessions (one-to-few and one-to-many) to transfer knowledge to customers evaluating or already using AWS
- Provide structured feedback to AWS service and product teams based on customer needs and gaps identified in the field
- Contribute to organizational strategic planning, recruiting, and the development of team-wide initiatives
This role may require travel of up to 30% to meet with customers and attend industry events

Travel expectations will be discussed during the interview process.
A day in the life
You will start your day engaging with a global Financial Services customer - perhaps leading a cloud architecture review for a core banking migration or a generative AI proof-of-concept. You'll collaborate with AWS sales, specialist, and product teams to align on strategy and remove technical blockers. In the afternoon, you might contribute to a reference architecture document, mentor a fellow SA, or prepare a talk for an upcoming industry conference
