Reports to: Afterschool Coordinator
Schedule: MondayFriday| 2:00pm-6:00pm
Grades Supported: Pre-K through 5th Grade

Position Summary

The Afterschool Program Assistant helps create a safe, engaging, and nurturing environment for students in the schools afterschool program. This role supports daily program operations, supervises students, assists with enrichment activities, and promotes positive student engagement. The ideal candidate is dependable, flexible, creative, and enjoys working with children.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and ensure the safety of students during afterschool programming
  • Plan, organize, and facilitate enrichment activities that support student growth and engagement
  • Prepare materials and supplies for activities and projects
  • Supervise students during supper and assist with cleanup
  • Reinforce school-wide routines, expectations, and positive behavior
  • Build positive relationships with students, families, and staff
  • Support daily program operations and maintain a safe, organized environment
  • Attend staff meetings, trainings, and professional development sessions
  • Collaborate with team members to support a successful afterschool program

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Experience working with children in an educational or childcare setting preferred
