Join our dedicated team at the YMCA as an After-School Program Counselor and make a positive impact on the lives of children and youth in our community. We are seeking enthusiastic, caring, and responsible individuals who are passionate about supporting young learners in a safe and engaging environment. This role offers an excellent opportunity to foster growth, develop leadership skills, and contribute to a vibrant community.


Key Responsibilities:

- Supervise and engage children and youth in after-school activities, ensuring a safe and inclusive environment

- Plan and implement age-appropriate recreational, educational, and enrichment activities

- Foster positive relationships with participants, parents, and staff to promote a welcoming atmosphere

- Enforce program rules and safety procedures consistently

- Support children in their social, emotional, and academic development

- Maintain accurate attendance records and communicate effectively with parents and guardians

- Collaborate with team members to create a dynamic and supportive program environment


Requirements:

Skills and Qualifications:

- High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or experience in child development or education is a plus

- Previous experience working with children or in youth programs preferred

- Strong communication and interpersonal skills

- Ability to manage multiple tasks and adapt to changing needs

- Reliable, responsible, and punctual

- Ability to work independently and as part of a team

- CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire)

- DCF 45 hours (or willingness to obtain within the first 90 days)
