Job Title: Afterschool Enrichment Instructor. Arts and STEAM

Location: Multiple school locations across the Atlanta Metro Area

Department: Afterschool Programs

Reports to: Program Director

Position Type: Part Time. 1099 Contractor

Schedule: Monday through Friday, 2:30 pm to 6:00pm



Job Overview

Artportunity Knocks is seeking enthusiastic Afterschool Enrichment Instructors to support our Arts and STEAM programming for K through 8th grade students. This role focuses on delivering engaging enrichment experiences through art, STEM learning, academic support, and social emotional development activities.


This position is ideal for educators, paraprofessionals, creatives, and youth leaders passionate about developing young people through hands on learning, creativity, and leadership building opportunities. Some outdoor activities may be included.



Key Responsibilities


Instruction and Program Delivery

Facilitate Artportunity Knocks curriculum using structured daily and weekly lesson plans

Lead engaging lessons across arts, STEM, academic enrichment, and social emotional learning

Create age appropriate activities that encourage exploration, creativity, and growth

Support student completion of projects that may culminate in a final presentation or showcase



Student Engagement and Development

Encourage participation and identify teachable moments during activities

Foster leadership, teamwork, and confidence in students

Model positive behavior including respect, citizenship, and sportsmanship

Create a safe, welcoming, and fun learning environment


Classroom Management and Safety

Implement classroom management practices aligned with AK policies and school site guidelines

Supervise students during transitions, mealtime activities, arrival, and dismissal

Ensure assigned student groups are supervised and safe at all times

Perform all responsibilities with a strong focus on student safety


Collaboration and Team Support

Work collaboratively with staff, leadership, and families

Maintain strong professional relationships with coworkers, students, and parents

Support overall program operations and daily routines


Qualifications


Required

High school diploma or GED

Minimum 1 year experience supervising or instructing children in an educational or enrichment setting

Ability to plan, organize, and lead activities for groups of children

Proven ability to maintain safe and structured environments

Positive attitude, self starter mindset, and strong communication skills

Ability to pass a background check

General mobility including walking, standing, bending, kneeling, and light lifting up to 20 pounds


Preferred

Experience as an afterschool instructor, paraprofessional, substitute teacher, or certified teacher

First Aid and Child and Adult CPR Certification

Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
