About the Aflac Cancer & Blood Disorders Center
The Aflac Cancer & Blood Disorders Center of Children's Healthcare of Atlanta and the Emory University Department of Pediatrics invites interested applicants for the position of Aflac Hematology Clinician. The Aflac Cancer & Blood Disorders Center has over 125 faculty members and approximately 50 Advance Practice Providers (APPs). More than 9,000 children with cancer and blood disorders are treated annually at the Aflac Cancer and Blood Disorders Center.
About the Aflac Cancer and Blood Disorders Center Hematology Team:
The Hematology Program is an integral component of the Aflac Cancer & Blood Disorders Center, with over 30 faculty members, 18 of whom are primarily clinically focused as well as 15 advance practice providers.
The Aflac pediatric hematology program is the largest in the country. We are home to largest pediatric Sickle Cell program in the country, including >2,100 active patients. Our Hemostasis and Thrombosis program is one of the premier programs in the nation, supporting >750 patients with bleeding and clotting disorders. In addition, strong basic and translational research programs exist across sickle cell, HT, and general hematology.
About the Available Position - Clinical Hematologist:
The provider will devote 70-90% to clinical responsibilities within the Aflac Cancer and Blood Disorders Center and Children's Healthcare of Atlanta. This time will include both inpatient and outpatient responsibilities primarily at the new Arthur M. Blank Hospital but also at Scottish Rite Children's Hospital. The remaining effort will be used to support the applicant's academic interests.
In collaboration with program leaders, the outpatient time can be tailored to support primary foci in general hematology, sickle cell disease, or hemostasis/thrombosis HT depending on the candidates interests and qualifications.
Play a role in the education and training program of the pediatric Hem/Onc/BMT Division, including involvement with medical students, residents, fellows, and occasionally physicians in practice.
Successful candidates will have:
  • MD, MD/PhD, or DO degrees
  • Must be Board Certified/Board Eligible in Pediatric Hematology-Oncology
  • Must be currently licensed as a physician and eligible for licensure as a physician in the State of Georgia
  • A history of clinical excellence/achievement

Salary and rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor at Emory University School of Medicine will be commensurate with experience and accomplishments. The primary focus of this position will be an emphasis on clinical service and administrative duties.
