Job description

SpaceX was founded under the belief that a future where humanity is out exploring the stars is fundamentally more exciting than one where we are not. Today SpaceX is actively developing the technologies to make this possible, with the ultimate goal of enabling human life on Mars.

Technical Recruiter Responsibilities

As a SpaceX recruiter, you will run a full desk with a variety of duties and responsibilities focused on the sourcing, screening, interviewing, and onboarding of top talent candidates to fill mission critical positions. You are the candidate’s first encounter with SpaceX and it is your job to represent the company with professionalism, pride, and enthusiasm. You will work in teams and collaborate while maintaining a high degree of autonomy, taking initiative and driving tasks to completion.

Your day-to-day routine will change often as hiring priorities shift, but there is a basic set of activities you can expect to run with daily, including, but not limited to:

  • Meeting with client groups to discuss headcount, new requisitions, hiring strategy, and interview feedback – acting as a partner, not an order taker
  • Screening candidates who apply to requisitions
  • Source candidates, often those not actively looking
  • Discuss screened candidates with client groups and recommend top picks for interviews
  • Giving tours to candidates before onsite interviews
  • Attending interviews with client groups to evaluate candidates
  • Managing the offer process, including background checks, offer packages, and extending offer letters

Some days you will have multiple candidates coming onsite for interviews; other days you will spend the majority of the day screening and sourcing candidates. The pace moves fast, but ultimately your job is to attract, organize, and manage the flow of the country’s most talented individuals.

Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree and 1+ years of recruiting experience; or associate degree and 2+ years of experience; or 3+ years of professional experience as a recruiter in lieu of a degree
Preferred Skills and Experience
  • 2+ years of technical recruiting experience
  • 2+ years of SGA recruiting experience
  • Experience with in-house recruiting
  • Experience with high volume recruiting
  • Experience recruiting electrical, mechanical and aerospace engineers
  • Experience recruiting skilled labor
  • Strong tenure with demonstrated success in recruiting roles
  • Full life cycle recruiting experience, from sourcing to closing
  • Comfort with reviewing, evaluating and reporting on recruiting data
  • Ability to distinguish between the top 50% and the top 5% of talent within their respective fields
  • Demonstrated expertise in non‑standard recruiting methods such as cold calling, organizing networking events, and targeted sourcing campaigns
  • Comfortable interfacing directly with hiring managers including director and VP level technical leaders
  • Ability to build strong relationships with both hiring managers and candidates
  • Ability to present but not oversell candidates to client groups; influence decisions by acting as a subject matter expert while avoiding dictation of client decisions
  • Ability to multi‑task and operate with little direction while still contributing to the team
Additional Requirements
  • Available to work extended hours and weekends as needed
  • This position is based in Hawthorne, CA (Los Angeles area) and requires being onsite full‑time; hybrid and remote work will not be considered
Compensation and Benefits

Pay range:
Technical Recruiter/Level I: $85,000.00 – $100,000.00 per year
Technical Recruiter/Level II: $95,000.00 – $120,000.00 per year
This position is also eligible for a recruiting bonus plan.

Base salary is just one part of your total rewards package. You may also be eligible for long‑term incentives in the form of company stock, stock options, or long‑term cash awards, as well as discretionary bonuses and the ability to purchase additional stock at a discount through an Employee Stock Purchase Plan. You will receive comprehensive medical, vision, and dental coverage, access to a 401(k) retirement plan, short and long‑term disability insurance, life insurance, paid parental leave, and various other discounts and perks. Employees accrue 3 weeks of paid vacation and are eligible for 10 or more paid holidays per year. Employees accrue paid sick leave pursuant to Company policy which satisfies or exceeds the accrual, carryover, and use requirements of the law.

SpaceX is an Equal Opportunity Employer; employment with SpaceX is governed on the basis of merit, competence and qualifications and will not be influenced in any manner by race, color, religion, gender, national origin/ethnicity, veteran status, disability status, age, sexual orientation, gender identity, marital status, mental or physical disability or any other legally protected status.
