Job description

Hexcel is currently seeking a Business Development Director for our Salt Lake City, UT location.
The selected individual will be responsible for but not limited to the following obligations:
  • Research and prioritize target markets and customers to inform growth strategy and resource allocation.
  • Lead development of the 10-year Strategic Plan (STRAP) by coordinating cross-functional input and identifying key growth opportunities and risks.
  • Define product offerings and establish best-in-class service standards to enhance competitive positioning.
  • Represent the organization externally by engaging in trade associations, conferences, and industry forums to promote capabilities and build market presence.
  • Develop strategic partnerships with universities and academic institutions to support innovation and talent pipelines.
  • Conduct competitive analysis and shape business strategies to strengthen performance in key segments.
  • Collaborate with government relations, marketing, and communications teams to position the organization for long-term success and enhance market visibility.
  • Drive business development activities, including hands-on customer engagement, opportunity qualification, and transition of leads into revenue-generating programs.
  • Lead commercial execution, including pricing strategy, contract negotiations, and expansion into non-traditional markets.
  • Support cross-functional execution and financial discipline by contributing to forecasting (1-24 months), managing budgets, and partnering with operations teams to deliver proposals, quotes, and customer solutions.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, Chemical, or Materials Engineering preferred; MBA a plus.
  • Minimum of ten years of experience in Aerospace Strategy, Business Development and Marketing.
  • Five years of experience in a leadership role.
  • Experience working with key aerospace OEM's, Tier 1 and Tier 2 companies.
  • Travel to customers and industry events in the Americas estimated at 50%.
