JOB DESCRIPTION
The Plating Supervisor will, supervise staff in the wastewater, plating, lube, cleaning departments, chemical lab, and heat treat. Plan,organize, and administer overall quality of product and production levels.Responsible for the evaluation and disposition of rejects and correctiveactions. Perform a wide range of administrative duties, coordinate withoperations and personnel to ensure efficient and profitable operations and helpachieve company goals and objectives. Main responsibilities will be employeerelations, quality, productivity, cost improvement and performancemeasurements. Plan and assign work, implement policies and procedures,recommend improvements to production methods, equipment, procedures andconditions.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
• Superviseand assure that quality control measures are at an acceptable level and areconsistent with company QA manual.
• Establishand maintain product flow throughout the department in accordance withproduction control priorities.
• Assureoverall quality of product and evaluation and disposition of rejects are inconcurrence with Quality Assurance Manager and Product Mangers.
• Supervisethe maintenance and replacement of all plating and cleaning solutions andequipment in the facility.
• Performadministrative functions including overall personnel policies and procedures.
• Responsiblefor requisitions of all supplies for the area.
• Troubleshootproblems and implement corrective actions.
• Implementquality control methods and processes to support quality planning.
• Developand test new methods related to Dry Film Lube and plating and also instituteand maintain documentation and control systems for all plating and cleaningprocesses.
• Enforcesafety regulations that affect the department.
• Consistentlymeet production standards, complete performance appraisals, disciplinaryactions, establish training procedures and introduce new personnel to properprocedures and policy.
• Directall lube, plating, cleaning, chemical lab, waste water treatment system, andheat treat personnel.
• Coordinateall waste water and treating processes and ensure we comply with all Laws andregulations, county, state and federal.
• Plan,schedule, and coordinate departmental activities to fulfill sales orders andmeet inventory requirements.
• Improveworking conditions (safety, quality, productivity, cost) and increasesubordinates' skills and capabilities through activity plans.
• Ensureseffective employee relations. Provides employee coaching and development. Makesemployment decisions. Resolves employee issues through problem resolution.
• Balancesquality, productivity, cost, and safety to achieve positive results in allareas. Works to continuously improve in all areas.
• Managesdepartmental performance measures, including visual controls and providesregular progress to manager.
• Performsaccident investigations, maintains proper inventory levels, manages departmentpriorities, tracks absenteeism and time-keeping and is responsible for allother duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Carriesout supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization'spolicies, procedures and applicable laws.
• Responsibilitiesinclude: interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, anddirecting work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees;addressing complaints and resolving problems.
• Supervisesthe shop floor through group leaders.
This role is required to be on-site 5 days at the Commerce, CA location.
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be ableto perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed arerepresentative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required:
- Basicknowledge of acid/base chemistry and of chemical safety
- Knowledgeablein Nadcap requirements and audit preparation.
- Understandbasic principles of electroplating
- Comprehendsafety data sheets and technical bulletins
- Mustunderstand and comply with hazardous materials and hazardous waste regulations
- Abilityto train and direct employees on the spill response team
- Maintainproduction, safety and environmental records
- Proficientin Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
EXPERIENCE:
- Requiresminimum 3 years' experience in a supervisory role
- Requiresa minimum 5 years in a plating environment
- Requiresbroad technical and administrative experience in a manufacturing platingenvironment
- Thoroughknowledge of all plating methods, techniques, and related equipment.
- Mustbe able to read and interpret drawings and specifications
- Mustbe able to measure performance to goals and standards.
- Musthave complete knowledge of production scheduling and shop operations.
- Mustbe extremely organized.
- Ableto think ahead and plan over a 30-day time span, analyze problems and come upwith solutions, manage inventory, pay attention to the details.
- Abilityto define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Abilityto interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical ordiagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
- Musthave very strong leadership skills, with excellent oral and writtencommunication skills, including group presentations.
- Abilityto respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatoryagencies, or members of the business community.
This role involves access to technical data and/or hardware subject to U.S. export control laws and regulations, including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and the Export Administration Regulations (EAR). In order to comply with these laws, employment is contingent upon verifying your status as a "U.S. Person" as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15, or obtaining any required government authorization.
Compensation
In compliance with all states and cities requiring transparency of pay, the expected pay range for this position is $115,000 - $134,000.
Compensation can vary depending on several factors, including a candidate's qualifications, skills, experience, competencies, and geographic location. Some roles may qualify for extra incentives like equity, commissions, or other variable performance-related bonuses. Further details will be provided by our recruiting team during the interview process.
