Job description

The Role -

Amphenol Aerospace Operations is seeking a Strategic Design Engineer to join the Engineering/Sales Team, covering the West Coast Territory.

The key responsibilities of the Strategic Design Engineer include, but are not limited to:

  • Work with the Key Account Managers (KAMs) & Sales Account Managers (SAMs) to identify target customers and target programs within the region.
  • Develop plans with the Sales Team on how to penetrate accounts that don’t currently use our products but our competitors’.
  • Quarterly design reviews with Regional Sales Manager (RSM) and Sales Team using the Amsterdam Design Pipeline, keeping pipeline up to date.
  • Program mapping at accounts with the Sales Team.
  • Identify potential products and services at current accounts and proper resources to address the customer needs.
  • Communicate design progress and wins with the business units from General Manager (GM) to the Product Managers with the Sales Team.
  • Provide technical support to Field Sales & our customers.
  • Work with Factory Engineering & Product Management, to generate design proposals and provide value added design solutions for new and existing programs.
  • Make technical product presentations and demonstrations to promote Amphenol products.
  • Help improve through-put with the factories on completion of new drawings & part number assignment.
  • Participate in professional organizations to maintain current knowledge of technical innovations.

Location: Remote from home office in CA or AZ

Salary: $89,500 - $130,000

The Person -

The key skills and qualities of a Strategic Design Engineer at Amphenol Aerospace Operations:

  • Basic understanding of electronics packaging components for Military & Aerospace products.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, and ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Ability to work under pressure and deadlines.
  • Technical aptitude.
  • Ability to interpret drawings & prints.
  • Dedication & drive.
  • A minimum of 5 years electronic packaging experience or equivalent experience.
  • Bachelor of Science or Engineering Technology in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
  • Travel extensively within designated geography, 50 to 60 % of the time or as needed.
  • Ability to travel out of town and be on the road for extended periods of time.
  • Proficiency working with Microsoft Office software – Power Point / Excel / Word.
  • CAD drawings & models.
