Operations Manager I in  GAC Savannah

Education and Experience Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Management, Aviation Maintenance or related curriculum required or equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. 2 years of technically related experience (aviation maintenance or general manufacturing) or 2 years general supervisory/managerial/leadership experience. Position Purpose: Under close supervision, plans, schedules and supervises the day-to-day operations of assigned department to meet production requirements in an aircraft manufacturing operation. Meets requirements related to EHS, quality, productivity, budgets, 6S and housekeeping. Prepares employees and work groups to meet future requirements through training and employee development activities.
Job Description
Principle Duties and Responsibilities: Essential Functions:
  1. Assigns production responsibilities, work plans and schedule requirements to department leads and coordinators to ensure that all jobs are completed in a matter that satisfies FAA regulations.
  2. Ensures that the department(s) has adequate resources to perform assigned tasks. Implements company policies and procedures.
  3. Maintains a safe work environment; ensures that stringent housekeeping, 6S standards and safety procedures and practices are followed; ensures that tools/equipment meet safety requirements; leads trend and root cause analysis and accident investigations.
  4. Promotes, encourages and leads employees towards a continuous improvement culture. Leads the implementation of Lean Six Sigma initiatives. .
  5. Coordinates with engineering, finance, materials, quality and other departments to ensure that schedules and budgets are met and problems are resolved. .
  6. Assists in troubleshooting to solve production process problems with processes and equipment already in operation while minimizing costs and preventing delivery delays. .
  7. Maintains and develops awareness of best practices across the company and manufacturing industry while encouraging innovation.
Additional Functions:
  1. Develops subordinate personnel to have the technical skills, training and certifications necessary to perform their job. .
  2. Maintains positive employee relations by providing an inclusive work environment. .
  3. Continually strives to increase the competitive edge in quality, productivity, timeliness and employee relations. .
  4. Establishes process controls to ensure a FOD free environment. .
  5. Provides input for the development of the business units strategic plans to ensure that cost, productivity, quality objectives/expectations and operational goals are met throughout the department(s). .
  6. Actively promotes a strong, healthy workforce through the utilization of the Corporate Ergonomist and EHS resources. .
  7. Actively supports corporate initiative in resource sustainability. .
  8. Ensures departmental emergency action plans support the business units Business Continuity Plan and can be executed in a timely and effective manner. .
  9. In support of aircraft certification and final phase testing, may include flight tests on aircraft as required. .
Perform other duties as assigned. Other Requirements:
  1. Proficient in the use of personal computer e-mail systems (Microsoft Outlook).
  2. Proficient in using computerized database management (Excel) and presentation systems (PowerPoint).
  3. Excellent verbal and written skills, to include strong interpersonal skills and the ability to persuade others without creating adversarial relationships. Overcomes communication barriers. Motivates others to act.
This job requires one to be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
