As our next Senior Electrical Engineering Manager and as a member of the Strategic Defense Solutions (SDS) HW organization, you will lead a team of 15+ Electrical Engineers whose charter is to design, develop, test, and deploy mission critical weapon systems for the United States Navy and Air Force. You will work with leaders that are People Focused, have a One Team mentality and are Mission Driven. Our team takes pride in their contributions to the defense and security of the United States. This position is located in Richardson, TX. 

This position reports to the Electrical Engineering Department Manager and will be working closely with program management, business development, chief engineers, project engineering and operations. 

This team develops designs for both electro-mechanical assemblies as well as the development of system-level modifications on airborne platforms.  Our teams are responsible for electrical design solutions for multiple, interconnected equipment which are critical components for the survivable, endurable, reliable airborne command, control and communications platforms required by our customers. We are looking for ambitious individuals, and this leader, who will take pride in their contributions to the defense and security of the United States. 

What You Will Do:

  • Conduct project leadership over the entire life cycle including bids, project management, requirements capture, design and implementation, integration, verification, and certification.

  • Provide technical leadership and accountability for team and performance on projects.

  • Relies on past, proven, technical expertise to drive team solutions for: electrical architectures, design and requirement development for systems of varying complexity. 

  • Participate as a management focal, responsible for hiring plans and staffing support of several programs supported in the business unit.

  • Remain cognizant of, as well as guide team members on, the management of scope, schedule, and budget for electrical engineering activities; candidate must be well versed in using Earned Value Management System (EVMS).

  • Must be able to lead, review, and provide guidance to team members on bid and proposal activities for pursuits.

  • Demonstrate a passion for coaching and mentoring.

  • Identify, recruit, develop and retain talent across the spectrum of entry-level to highly experienced Electrical Engineers.

  • Build and leverage networks within the department and across Raytheon Technologies.

  • Communicate well with a wide variety of individuals including Engineering, Program Management, internal leadership, and customers.

  • Strives to spend 50% of week performing technical tasks and project coaching, remaining time spent on people management, staffing, and career development. 

  • Look out to industry for other developing technologies to adopt into our products. 

What You Will Learn:

  • Leadership and Management: Develop and refine leadership and project management skills, including hiring, performance assessment, and personnel management, while managing project scope, schedule, and budget in a high-stakes environment 

  • Cross-Disciplinary Collaboration: Enhance collaboration skills by working within integrated agile release trained teams, coordinating with Mechanical, Systems, Software, and Manufacturing teams to ensure successful project execution and delivery 

  • Advanced Systems Integration: Gain experience with integrating complex Systems of Systems, enhancing skills in working with multi-enclave network systems, cutting-edge mission processing systems, and communication systems (VLF, HF, V/UHF, SATCOM) 

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 10 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 7 years of experience.

  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance. 

  • Previous experience in Military electronic communication equipment design and qualification to RTCA DO-160/MIL-STD-810 requirements.

Qualifications We Prefer: 

  • Prior management experience of a technical team and proven experience working in a cross functional environment interfacing with Systems, Mechanical, Test, and Software Engineering.

  • Practical experience in all phases of Electrical Engineering product design and development (circuit card assemblies, aircraft harnesses, power distribution, electromechanical systems); pursuit, design, new product introduction (NPI), qualification, integration, and production support.

  • Previous exposure to airframe/air-system modification, integration, and/or airworthiness certification.

  • Platform design and aircraft modification on large, fixed-wing aircraft.

  • Direct experience in military design and development for bid and proposal efforts.

  • 3+ years of experience in Cost Account Management (CAM) and Earn Value Management Systems (EVMS). 

  • 2+ years experience/knowledge with development methods such as Agile.

  • Experience/knowledge of ground/airborne communications systems, antenna design, and operation (VLF, HF, UHF, V/UHF, or EHF/SATCOM).

  • Background and/or knowledge in networking, high power constructs, and interface definition.

The salary range for this role is 132,400 USD - 251,600 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
