Aero Tech Aviation Design, a leading innovator in aviation component manufacturing, and we are seeking motivated and detail-oriented individuals to join our team as an Entry-Level Shop Technician. This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on individual to launch or advance an early career in advanced manufacturing focused on the aerospace industry and related tooling.

About the Role

This position allows for a range of experience from beginner to several years of experience. Because of the broad range of skills needed, we train our new-hires with On-the-Job Training, mentored under an experienced master fabricator. Training across a wide spectrum of essential manufacturing skills. You will work alongside experienced professionals in a dynamic shop environment, contributing to the production of high-quality aircraft parts and tooling.

We are committed to developing our talent. For the right candidate, this role offers a clear growth path into highly specialized and advanced manufacturing techniques.

Key Responsibilities

  • Learn and execute foundational manufacturing processes under direct supervision.
  • Work with various materials and techniques, including composites fabrication, sheet metal work, and precision riveting.
  • Assist senior technicians with TIG welding operations and other metal joining techniques.
  • Follow detailed blueprints, schematics, and work instructions to ensure compliance with strict aerospace quality standards.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment, adhering to all company safety protocols and procedures.
  • Perform routine quality checks on your work to ensure parts meet specifications.
  • Demonstrate a strong eagerness to learn and adapt to new challenges and technologies.

Growth Opportunities

Upon successful completion and mastery of the initial apprenticeship phase and demonstrated competency, the role can evolve to include training and experience in:

  • Manual Milling and Lathe operation
  • CNC Machining and programming
  • Advanced composite layups and curing processes
  • Quality Assurance and Inspection roles

Qualifications and Skills

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. Technical school certifications or relevant coursework is a plus but not required. A&P mechanic training or certification is helpful but not required
  • Experience: Entry-level position; no prior professional experience in aerospace manufacturing is necessary. Mechanical aptitude or experience with hands-on projects (automotive repair, model building, personal fabrication) is highly valued.
  • Skills:
    • Strong attention to detail and commitment to precision work.
    • Excellent problem-solving abilities and willingness to ask questions.
    • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
    • Basic mathematical skills and ability to read a tape measure/calipers.
    • Reliable transportation to the Grass Lake, Michigan area facility.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 40 pounds, stand for extended periods, and perform physical tasks in a shop environment.
  • Due to some of our work related to ITAR, at this time we can only accept US citizens or Green Card holders.
