Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a Manager of the Aerospace Vehicle Equipment (Missile) Modeling, Simulation and Analysis Fluids Team. This position will be located located in Roy, UT and will support the Sentinel program.

What You Will Get To Do:
As an Engineering Manager of the AVE Aero/Fluids team within the AVE Modeling, Simulation, and Analysis (MS&A) IPT you will be responsible for leading a team of engineers to deliver on all contractual requirements on cost and on schedule, while achieving all technical requirements.
This position is a dual-hat position requiring the candidate to perform functional management activities as well as program responsibilities. It is expected that the Functional management role will comprise up to 20% of the candidate's time. The candidate will have 80% technical/assignment responsibilities: supporting SDS programs within their same function.
Position responsibilities include:
  • Provide leadership, mentorship, and direction to team members.
  • Measuring and reporting team performance.
  • Drive technical scope planning, risk management, project performance; manage cost, schedule, and technical quality of work products.
  • Apply extensive aero/fluids knowledge, skills and ability in pursuit of meeting contractual. requirements. Strong emphasis on applying aerodynamic results to 6-DOF simulations and other downstream analysis products.
  • Collaborate closely with other relevant disciplines/IPTs, e.g. Flight Analysis, Structures, Propulsion, Integration and test, etc.
  • Develop technical solutions to complex aero/fluids problems.
  • Communicate effectively and clearly; present technical approaches and findings to customers, executive management, and other program stakeholders.
  • Team management responsibilities for career development and employee performance, team time management.

This positions standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.
Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) and a minimum 8 years of related experience or Master's Degree in STEM with 6 years of related experience.
  • Must have an active U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance at time of application, current and within scope, with an ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) approval within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business need.
  • Experience leading the performance of tasks on schedule, at cost and achieving all requirements as either project lead, integrated program team, or similar.
  • Strong sense of urgency and work ethic in ensuring engineering meets customer and program expectations in a timely and efficient manner.
  • 2 years of experience developing aerodynamic models, tools, databases using Matlab, Python, C++ or similar for integration into 6DOF simulations.
  • 2 years of experience with commercial CFD codes such as CFD++, StarCCM+, or ANSYS Fluent.
  • Demonstrated technical writing experience in both authoring and reviewing formal analysis documentation; strong ability to verbally communicate technical content to senior engineering leadership.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) or related discipline.
  • 1 year experience with analytical aerodynamic design tools, e.g. Missile DATCOM or similar
  • Demonstrated experience in Program Execution, Staffing, Engineering Metrics and Training resources, Processes, and Tools.
  • Demonstrated experience in making sound decisions in uncertain and difficult situations
  • Demonstrated experience working with customers and senior leadership to ensure project success.
  • 3+ years of experience developing aerodynamic models, tools, databases using Matlab, Python, C++ for integration into 6DOF simulations
  • 3+ years of experience with commercial CFD codes such as CFD++, StarCCM+, or ANSYS Fluent.
  • Demonstrated experience working with Linux and Windows based HPC's for aero/fluids work.
  • Involvement with the planning and execution of physical aerodynamics related testing applications such as wind tunnels or flight test validation including scheduling, test matrix and development of test items.
  • Demonstrated experience leading a team through an EMD program in compliance of program requirements.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, including demonstrated experience with high value customer presentations, with ability to focus on multiple projects with competing priorities.
  • Experience in performing in an Agile environment and knowledge/understanding of JIRA.

Primary Level Salary Range: $139,100.00 - $208,700.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
