What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in AEC services, and why are they important?

To thrive in AEC Services, a strong background in architecture, engineering, or construction management is essential, often requiring a relevant degree and professional licensure. Proficiency with industry-standard software such as AutoCAD, Revit, BIM tools, and project management platforms is typically expected. Strong communication, teamwork, and problem-solving abilities help professionals effectively collaborate across disciplines and with clients. These skills ensure the successful planning, design, and execution of complex projects while meeting quality, safety, and budget standards.

How does an AEC Services professional typically collaborate with architects, engineers, and construction teams during a project?

An AEC Services professional acts as a crucial link between architects, engineers, and construction teams, often facilitating communication, coordinating project documentation, and ensuring all stakeholders are aligned with project goals and timelines. Collaboration usually involves regular meetings, sharing digital models or drawings, and addressing technical issues as they arise. Strong interpersonal skills and proficiency with industry-standard tools (such as BIM software) are essential for effective teamwork and project delivery. This collaborative environment helps ensure projects meet quality standards and are completed efficiently.

What are AEC services?

AEC services refer to the professional services provided in the fields of Architecture, Engineering, and Construction. These services encompass the planning, design, and building of physical structures such as buildings, bridges, and infrastructure projects. Firms offering AEC services typically handle everything from conceptual design and technical drawings to project management and construction oversight. The goal is to deliver safe, functional, and aesthetically pleasing structures that meet client and regulatory requirements.

Job description

ABOUT MNA

Mussett Nicholas Associates (MNA) is a specialized engineering and architecture firm delivering MEP design and commissioning services for pharmaceutical, biotech, industrial facilities, and more. With offices in Indianapolis IN, Raleigh NC, and Louisville KY, MNA serves a technically demanding client base that values precision, reliability, and deep expertise. We are growing and this role helps drive that growth.

POSITION SUMMARY
The Marketing Specialist is a senior individual contributor who owns MNA's marketing programs from strategy through execution. You understand how technical professional services firms win work through relationships, reputation, and consistent visibility in the right places. You can write compellingly about complex engineering topics, navigate a room full of owners and facility managers, and build the systems that turn client relationships into long-term partnerships. You will operate with significant autonomy, work directly with the ownership group, and mentor junior marketing staff.
This role is a fit for someone who has worked in AEC or technical professional services and knows the rhythms of the industry: the proposal cycle, the trade show circuit, the client entertainment, and the long relationship-building arcs that precede major project awards.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
Market Awareness & Content
Lead MNA's social media strategy and execution LinkedIn, YouTube, etc. with data-driven content planning and regular performance reporting to leadership
Own proposal and qualification package production end-to-end: strategy, writing, design, and on-time delivery
Develop and produce video content project spotlights, facility tours, leadership interviews for external channels
Write and place journal articles, conference abstracts, and project case studies that reinforce MNA's technical reputation
Plan and manage MNA's annual professional engagement calendar: trade shows, industry forums, career fairs, and sponsored events

Client & Business Development

Develop and manage structured client follow-up programs multi-level touchpoints coordinated across project managers, principals, and ownership
Conduct ongoing client and market analysis: identify shifts in MNA's target sectors and surface emerging opportunities before competitors do
Support ownership in preparing for client meetings, executive briefings, and pursuit strategy sessions
Manage CRM data integrity and produce regular pipeline and activity reports for the ownership group
Coordinate proactive outreach to prospect clients research, introductory materials, and first-contact support

Brand, Collateral & Team
Maintain and continuously improve MNA's marketing asset library: project photography, descriptions, staff bios, and templates
Enforce brand consistency across all outputs; own the Adobe InDesign production workflow
Mentor and provide day-to-day direction to the Marketing Coordinator
Identify gaps in MNA's marketing infrastructure and recommend process or tool improvements

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
Industry experience carries the most weight for this role. We will prioritize candidates who have worked inside an AEC or technical professional services firm over those with more years in unrelated industries.

58 years of marketing experience, with meaningful time spent in AEC, engineering, construction, or a related technical professional services environment this is the single most important qualifier
Demonstrated ability to own a proposal process and produce winning qualification packages
Strong writer able to translate complex engineering concepts into compelling client-facing language
Proficiency in Adobe InDesign required; Illustrator and Photoshop a plus
Experience managing social media programs and interpreting analytics
CRM platform experience required; familiarity with Deltek or similar AEC systems a plus
Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, or a related field is preferred equivalent experience in AEC marketing will be given equal consideration
Comfortable presenting to firm leadership and participating in client-facing settings

WHY MNA
Direct access to the ownership group your recommendations will be heard and acted on
Technically sophisticated, mission-driven clients in pharmaceutical, biotech, and industrial sectors
A firm with a strong reputation and loyal client base that is actively ready to grow
High autonomy with real resources this is not a support role, it is a program ownership role
Clear path to Marketing Manager as the firm scales toward 300+ staff
Collaborative, low-bureaucracy environment where marketing is a strategic priority, not an afterthought

* This position could be located in Indianapolis, IN or Raleigh, NC, based upon the location of the candidate.
