An advertising manager plans and directs the advertising and promotional campaigns of companies to generate interest and revenue for a service or a product. They work with sales agents, financial staff, and art directors to run campaigns from start to finish, and achieve an agreed upon objective.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an advertising manager?

To thrive as an Advertising Manager, you need expertise in marketing strategy, campaign management, and analytics, often supported by a degree in marketing or a related field. They coordinate project timelines, communicate client objectives, and ensure that creative deliverables align with both brand messaging and sales goals. Regular meetings and feedback sessions are common, ensuring that campaigns are on track and adjustments are made promptly to meet client expectations. This collaborative environment requires strong organizational and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to manage multiple stakeholders and deadlines simultaneously.

Advertising and Partnerships Lead

Artsy, Inc

New York, NY โ€ข On-site

Full-time

Job description

We're looking for an Advertising & Partnerships Lead to grow strategic partnerships across the global art ecosystem. This role is designed for someone deeply embedded in the art world who can open doors immediately - someone who has and can build trusted relationships with senior decision-makers across galleries, art fairs, museums, and art-adjacent businesses. This is a revenue carrying role with clear performance targets tied to advertising, data product growth, and subscriptions.
This role sits within Artsy and Artnet's Expansion team which is responsible for growing revenue across both brands-deepening existing partner relationships while developing new opportunities across the art ecosystem. You will be responsible for selling and scaling our advertising offerings to art businesses (incl. galleries, museums, art fairs, and other related businesses), and cross-selling new and existing products across Artsy and Artnet's partner bases. You'll have the opportunity to help re-define the playbook and shape how we position our brands to partners and cultural institutions globally.
What You'll Do:
  • Build and grow partnerships with galleries, museums, art fairs, and art-adjacent businesses across advertising and our portfolio of commercial products.
  • Leverage your existing network within the art world to create immediate commercial opportunities and accelerate partnership growth.
  • Own the full sales cycle from prospecting and relationship development through negotiation, closing, and renewal.
  • Develop strategic, consultative relationships with senior stakeholders across the art ecosystem.
  • Identify cross-sell opportunities across our product suite as the business evolves-from advertising and intelligence tools to entirely new offerings in development.
This role is a fit for you if:
  • You have 7+ experience in advertising sales, digital media partnerships, or sponsorship sales, ideally within the art, luxury, culture, or lifestyle sectors.
  • You bring an established network within the contemporary art world and can immediately engage senior decision-makers across leading galleries, museums, fairs, and related institutions.
  • You are highly relationship-oriented but also comfortable operating in a metrics-driven environment with clear pipeline and revenue accountability.
  • You understand how brand storytelling, audience engagement, and visual identity contribute to successful advertising partnerships.
  • You are entrepreneurial, self-directed, and excited by the opportunity to help build and shape a growing business function.
  • You communicate with credibility and confidence across both creative and commercial stakeholders.
  • You have experience using Salesforce and sales analytics tools to manage pipeline health and performance reporting.

You are currently authorized to live and work in the United States. This role will be based in New York City, with 3+ days/week in-office.
This role is unlikely to be a good match if you:
  • Prefer highly structured environments with established playbooks rather than building processes and partnerships from the ground up.
  • Are uncomfortable balancing relationship-driven sales with increasing accountability around metrics, pipeline management, and performance reporting.

What success looks like in your first 3-6 months:
In your first 3 months:
  • Hit the ground running by activating your existing network to generate immediate partnership conversations and commercial opportunities.
  • Rapidly develop a strong understanding of Artsy and Artnet's full product suite, audience, and market positioning.
  • Build a healthy, qualified pipeline quickly, identifying high-value prospects and moving them through the sales cycle with urgency.
  • Begin closing early deals, demonstrating your ability to convert relationships into revenue.

In your first 6 months:
  • Close multiple high-impact partnerships with galleries, institutions, and art-adjacent businesses
  • Operate as a high-performing contributor with a growing and well-managed pipeline.
  • Become a trusted external representative of Artsy and Artnet within the global art ecosystem.
  • Contribute meaningfully to revenue growth and help shape the commercial frameworks that will scale the business long-term.
About Us:
Artsy and Artnet have joined forces, bringing together the art world's two most important online destinations under shared leadership and vision.
Both brands will continue to embrace their proven strengths: Artnet as the definitive destination for trusted journalism, transactional data, auctions, and market intelligence; Artsy as the leader in discovering and buying art through personalized recommendations, editorial storytelling, and a seamless collecting experience across web and mobile. Together, Artsy and Artnet attract over 7 million monthly visitors across 190+ countries and reach over 9 million followers across social channels.
What We Offer:
  • Opportunity to reimagine the art industry while working with a talented, diverse, international team.
  • Competitive salary and equity
  • Flexible time off: our culture of trust and empowerment allows employees to take the time they need away from work while still excelling in their roles
  • We are a global hybrid team: most employees work from our NYC, London, or Berlin offices 3 days per week. (In-person expectations vary by role)
  • Comprehensive healthcare & benefit options, including: medical, dental, parental leave, short- and long-term disability, Employee Assistance Program featuring free mental health support, 401k, commuter benefits, flexible spending accounts (FSA), health savings accounts (HSA), financial wellness support & resources, and more
  • Professional development, including: mentoring, lunch & learns, regular training, 1:1 management, and an open feedback culture
  • Engaging opportunities and internal programming globally, to foster new relationships and build upon our collaborative community. Including: happy hours, holiday parties, global "All Hands" meetings, "Artsy Salon" (a yearly exhibition of our team's creativity), attendance to art world events, and more
  • Opportunity to reimagine the art industry while working with a talented, diverse, international team.

The base salary range for this role is $80,000-$120,000 annually. In addition, you will be eligible for the company's commission plan. All compensation packages include meaningful Artsy equity and competitive health benefits. Please see our "What We Offer" above for more detail, or speak to our Talent Acquisition Team to learn more!
Artsy and Artnet are committed to equitable compensation practices, and your offer will depend on the relevant experience and skillset you bring to the team.
Please note that we do not accept applications sent by email. You should submit your application directly through our careers website!
