Job description

Duties and Responsibilities
In this Part-time, variable-hour position, the selected applicant(s) will maintain a fun, safe and supervised atmosphere for infants and children through structed and unstructured activities. Responsibilities may also include working in other areas of the Community Center. Must be able to work morning shifts, 8AM - 12:30, at least three (3) days each week and can include holidays.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
  • Greet, acknowledge, and interact with residents and their children in a friendly and professional manner.
  • Engages children in interactive activities that may include storytelling, organized arts & crafts, singing and games.
  • Monitors and interacts with children to maintain a safe and healthy environment with respect to the toys, sports equipment, other children and surroundings.
  • Cleans and maintains the Adventure Club area
  • Supervise children when outside on the playground.
  • Articulates extensive knowledge of children's activities, programs and services, policies and procedures.
  • Maintains a safe environment for children places in his/her care.
  • Ensures that established policies and procedures are enforced.
  • Keep Accurate incident reports and report them immediately to the programs manager
  • Attend all staff meetings as scheduled.
  • Maintain accurate time card activity
  • Other Duties as assigned by the programs manager

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
  • Education: A minimum two (2) years of high school completed or equivalent, previous experience in a related position helpful
  • Minimum Age: 16 years old
  • Experience: Experience with children in an organized program setting is highly preferred
  • Must have an aptitude for detail, highly effective interpersonal and problem-solving sills. Excellent communication skills are also required for this position.
  • CPR & First Aid certifications are helpful, but not required.

Requirements
ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Must be physically and intellectually capable of operating a personal computer, printer, facsimile machine, phone, and various other routine business equipment items
  • Ability to see well enough to read faint or partially obscured writing or printing
  • Must be able to speak, read and write English so that various types of communication may be conducted with people of various levels of education and capabilities both in person and over the phone
  • Perform physical activities (possibly for extended periods of time) that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, with a full range of motions including walking, sitting, standing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, pushing, pulling, twisting, bending, lifting, and carrying
  • Position requires ability to exert minimal force of up to 20 pounds and occasionally up to 60 pounds of force to move objects
  • Ability to transport oneself around office and community

WORK ENVIRONMENT
  • Must be able to work on more than one assignment at a time with frequent interruptions, changes, and delays
  • Must remain alert to working conditions and aware of safety, health, and environmental concerns
  • Must be able to work effectively with positive attitude and demeanor in an environment which may be stressful due to adversarial situations resulting from the proper performance of duties
  • Position will alternate between working indoors in a controlled climate to an outdoors setting with variable climate
  • Personal protective equipment (PPEs) to include proper footwear, headgear, and maintenance attire should be worn for protection as appropriate
  • The employee may be in the vicinity of site-specific vegetation and native species of reptiles and mammals, subjecting the employee to possible injury from contact or bites
  • This is a safety sensitive position
