As a Communications Lead within PNC's Corporate Communications organization, you will be based in Pittsburgh, PA, Washington D.C., or Chicago, IL.
The Brand Communications Lead is responsible for developing and driving the communications strategy, including earned media and integrated paid communications campaigns that support PNC's national brand expansion and Brilliantly Boring philosophy.
This role oversees communications tied to national sports and entertainment sponsorships, and brand campaigns, ensuring all work is aligned to enterprise priorities and reinforces PNC's market position.
Working across PNC's 300-person Marketing and Communications organization, this manager partners closely with brand, marketing, sponsorships, media relations, executive communications, social, internal communications, external partners, and agency teams to deliver integrated communications plans and campaigns that engage critical internal and external audiences, increase national brand awareness and strengthen PNC's reputation.
Key Responsibilities:
Collaborate with key partners to set the strategic communications direction for PNC's national brand, sponsorship and entertainment-related storytelling, with a focus on earned media, thought leadership and executive visibility.
Develop and execute integrated communications plans and campaigns that connect paid, earned, shared and owned channels and support broader marketing and brand objectives.
Translate business, brand and national sponsorship priorities into clear, compelling narratives that resonate with national media, customers, employees and other stakeholders.
Elevate PNC's brand story beyond traditional financial, sports and marketing media, creating breakthrough visibility in mainstream consumer outlets that build awareness, relevance and reputation.
Serve as a senior counselor to executives and business partners, providing strategic guidance on message development, media engagement, visibility opportunities and reputational considerations.
Lead proactive media strategy, including story development, reporter engagement, interview preparation, issues management and measurement of communications impact.
Champion consistent use of communications measurement and reputation tracking tools and partner with analytics teams to evaluate the impact of brand, sponsorship and thought leadership initiatives.
Translate quantitative and qualitative reputation insights into strategic recommendations that enhance communications effectiveness, strengthen stakeholder trust and support enterprise brand objectives.
Partner with internal teams and external agencies to ensure communications are coordinated, high quality, on brand and delivered with strong executional discipline.
Identify and activate opportunities tied to national sponsorships, brand platforms, market expansion and cultural moments that can elevate PNC's visibility and relevance.

  • Executes communications strategies that help drive business priorities.
  • Supports the development of communication strategies; plans, researches and develops content for complex communications initiatives.
  • Identifies issues and opportunities, and engages other parts of the organization to ensure strategic alignment, clarity, and accuracy of the message.
  • Ensures data collected is synthesized and leveraged effectively to provide appropriate insights.
  • Implements and oversees activities, including approval requirements in coordination with legal, compliance, finance, risk and other key partners. Supports partnership with agencies, third parties and internal business partners to coordinate the development and execution of programs/initiatives.
