Requisition Summary

Peterbilt Motors Company is looking for an Advanced Manufacturing Engineer to work in Denton, Texas. 

Provide Manufacturing Engineering support for chassis and powertrain systems including engine installation, transmission, driveline, exhaust, fuel systems, cooling systems, frame-mounted components, and related manufacturing processes. Studies facilities and production processes, making recommendations to improve production efficiency, enhance process capability, improve product/process quality, and reduce manufacturing costs under general supervision. 

Job Responsibilities

Core Functions  

  • Lead manufacturing engineering support for chassis and powertrain systems, ensuring manufacturability, assembly efficiency, quality, safety, and cost effectiveness throughout product development and launch. 
  • Partner with Design Engineering to provide DFMA input, participate in design reviews, and support DFMEA/PFMEA activities. 

  • Develop, validate, and implement manufacturing processes for chassis and powertrain systems. 

  • Drive manufacturing readiness and successful product launches by coordinating activities with suppliers, engineering teams, and production plants, including prototype, pilot, and production builds. 

  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, quality, productivity, cost reduction, ergonomics, automation, error-proofing (Poka-Yoke), and root cause corrective action (RCCA).

Supporting Responsibilities 

  • Manufacturing Systems Implementation 
    • Develop and deploy tooling, equipment, material handling, and supplier-supported manufacturing solutions.  
  • Cross-Functional Leadership 
    • Partner and collaborate with engineering, operations, quality, and suppliers to ensure effective execution and communication throughout product development and launch. 
  • Manufacturing Technology and Traceability 
    • Support adoption of manufacturing technologies that improve process control, quality, traceability, and operational performance. 
Required Qualifications
  • A Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited university
  • 7+ years of engineering experience
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Demonstrates ability to lead cross-functional projects and drive results. 
Preferred Qualifications
  • Degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering are preferred. 
  • Manufacturing/industrial engineering or design for manufacturability experience. 
  • Experience with the following is considered preferred:
    • Strong PACCAR manufacturing experience.
    • Thorough knowledge of PACCAR products and the PCP Tollgate process.
    • Heavy truck, automotive, or heavy equipment manufacturing experience.
    • Six Sigma certification (Lean Belt, Green Belt, DFSS, etc.).
    • Project Management.
    • Design for Assembly (DFA) Methodologies.
    • Creo Parametric CAD and PTC Windchill.
    • Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams, OneNote, VBA).
    • Manufacturing automation and robotic systems.
    • Torque management and fastening systems.
    • Process validation and production readiness assessments.
    • Error-proofing (Poka-Yoke) techniques.
    • Data analytics and manufacturing performance reporting.
    • AI and machine-learning-enabled manufacturing solutions.
    • Public speaking and presentation skills.
