Job description

When you join the growing BILH team, you're not just taking a job, you’re making a difference in people’s lives.

This is a full-time Medical Assistant position working the day shift, Monday through Friday, with no weekend or holiday requirements. The role is based in a fast-paced clinic that sees over 150+ patients (Adult & Pediatrics) daily.
Supports smooth and efficient practice operations, while contributing to Joslin and BIDMC's promise of providing extraordinary care to Adult & Pediatric patients. Communicates with patients, other employees and the general public in a courteous, helpful manner by phone and in person. In addition to medical assisting, provides administrative tasks as needed, including but are not limited to greeting, check-in, and scheduling. Assists patients who have physical and psychological limitations with ambulation and patient care functions.

About the Role

Join a fast-paced adult and pediatric diabetes clinic where Medical Assistants are central to patient care and daily clinic operations.
 

You will room patients, perform phlebotomy, complete medication reconciliation, download diabetes technology data, and help maintain efficient patient flow. Medical Assistants support the clinic based on patient needs rather than being assigned to individual providers, making flexibility and teamwork essential.
 

What You’ll Do
  • Room adult and pediatric patients and obtain height, weight, blood pressure, and other vital signs
  • Review medications and allergies and document information accurately in the electronic medical record
  • Perform phlebotomy, point-of-care testing, and specimen collection
  • Download data from continuous glucose monitors, glucose meters, and insulin pumps into the patient’s chart
  • Help coordinate patient flow across the clinic and communicate delays
  • Prepare and turn over exam rooms and maintain clean, stocked patient care areas
  • Queue prescription renewals and enter orders as directed by a licensed provider
  • Support same-day appointments, interpreter coordination, and special clinic workflows
  • Provide backup assistance with patient check-in, check-out, scheduling, and telephone coverage
  • Maintain medical equipment and supplies, including quality control and expiration monitoring
     
Who You’ll Support

The clinic provides care to adult and pediatric patients managing diabetes and related health conditions. Medical Assistants work alongside physicians, nurse practitioners, nurses, dietitians, behavioral health specialists, exercise physiologists, nephrology providers, and patient service representatives.
 

Depending on clinic volume and assignment, a Medical Assistant may support approximately 15–30 patients during a shift.

Required Qualifications
  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • 0-1 years related work experience required.
  • Basic familiarity with computers. Ability to navigate at a basic level within web-based applications.
  • MA, EMT, CNA, LNA certificate or diploma; or at least 5 months of direct patient care experience in a clinical or research setting, such as: experience working as a medical assistant (MA), a patient care technician (PCT) or a clinical nursing assistant (CNA); nursing or medical student with completion of one clinical rotation.

  • Phlebotomy certificate

Pay Range:

$21.00 - $28.26

The pay range listed for this position is the base hourly wage range the organization reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this position at this time. Actual compensation is determined based on several factors, that may include seniority, education, training, relevant experience, relevant certifications, geography of work location, job responsibilities, or other applicable factors permissible by law.  Compensation may exceed the base hourly rate depending on shift differentials, call pay, premium pay, overtime pay, and other additional pay practices, as applicable to the position and in accordance with the law.
