Job description

Job Summary:
CHOC Children's is dedicated to being the leading destination for children’s health by providing exceptional and innovative care. The Associate Vice President, Data Intelligence will lead the Foundation's data intelligence strategy and oversee its data ecosystem to enhance fundraising performance and operational excellence.
Responsibilities:
• Reporting to the Senior Vice President and Chief Development Officer, CHOC Foundation, the Associate Vice President, Data Intelligence serves as a key member of the Foundation Leadership Team and is responsible for advancing the Foundation's data intelligence strategy, analytics capabilities, and operational infrastructure.
• This role leads the organization's data ecosystem to transform data into actionable intelligence that drives fundraising performance, donor engagement, operational excellence, and organizational growth.
• The AVP oversees enterprise data governance, business intelligence, fundraising analytics, reporting, and technology platforms that support development operations.
• This position is responsible for ensuring the accuracy, integrity, accessibility, and strategic utilization of fundraising and donor data across the organization.
• Through advanced analytics, predictive modeling, performance measurement, and actionable insights, the AVP enables data-driven fundraising strategies and supports sustainable organizational growth.
• In addition, the AVP provides oversight of development operations functions including gift administration, prospect development and fundraising technology systems while ensuring alignment with organizational objectives and industry best practices.
Qualifications:
Required:
• Seven (7) to ten (10) years of progressive leadership experience in business intelligence, data analytics, data governance, reporting, CRM administration, or related disciplines.
• Demonstrated experience developing and executing data strategies that support fundraising, advancement, healthcare, nonprofit, or mission-driven organizations.
• Advanced experience with Salesforce, Marketing Cloud, data integration platforms, business intelligence tools, and CRM ecosystems.
• Expert-level proficiency with Microsoft SQL, Power BI, data visualization, and reporting platforms.
• Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Data Science, Business Analytics, Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
• Enterprise Systems & Operational Mindset: Systems thinker with strong attention to detail and organizational discipline; able to identify opportunities for integration, standardization, and optimization in support of fundraising performance.
• Leadership & Management Capability: Demonstrated experience leading high-performing teams, fostering accountability, innovation and excellence and managing technical vendors, including driving efficiencies, controlling costs, and delivering measurable outcomes, preferably within children’s healthcare, academic medicine or complex nonprofit environments.
• Strategic Initiative & Execution: Self-directed leader with the ability to independently evaluate emerging technologies, processes, and methodologies; possesses the vision and discipline to translate recommendations into executable solutions.
• Influence & Collaboration: Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to influence stakeholders and build trusted, collaborative relationships across the Foundation, Hospital Leadership, and key stakeholders at all levels.
• Analytical and Organizational Skills: Must have strong organizational and analytical skills, with great attention to detail, to effectively respond to technical assistance requests while maintaining the integrity of the data infrastructure.
• Ability to Work Independently: Must be able to work independently and make effective decisions in a complex business environment with shifting priorities.
Preferred:
• Non profit and/or healthcare experience highly preferred.

• Advanced Analytical Capability : Collecting, analyzing, and interpreting complex operational, fundraising, and transactional data to inform strategy and performance.
• Technical & Data Governance Aptitude: Strong understanding of data governance frameworks, data quality controls, and stewardship best practices.
• Fundraising Systems Expertise: Working knowledge of CRM and fundraising platforms such as Raiser’s Edge NXT, Asana or Power BI, and related analytics tools.
• Data & Reporting Technologies: Experience with SQL, Python, or similar tools to support data extraction, transformation, modeling, and reporting.
• Statistical & Data Modeling Proficiency: Ability to interpret complex statistical data and lead projects involving analytical methodologies, database design, and advanced data modeling.
