Outstanding opportunity for a mechanical Engineer with Gas Turbine experience interested in joining the Engines and APU Turbines team. The scope of the work will include design, analysis, lifing and testing support of gas turbine components for new designs, redesigns and to resolve field related issues.
You will work out of our Phoenix, AZ location on a Hybrid work schedule.
Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform professional mechanical engineering assignments such as heat transfer and secondary cooling flow analyses without appreciable supervision.
  • Conceive, design and execute complex cooling schemes to increase component durability with minimum impact to engine performance.
  • Thermal design and analysis of cooled airfoil components such as nozzles and blades is a plus.
  • Create and calibrate 2D and 3D transient conduction-convection thermal models using NX thermal or equivalent software.
  • Create 3D conjugate heat transfer models using StarCCM+ or equivalent software.
  • Knowledge and experience applying DFSS methodology for design optimization.
  • Plans and supports engine thermal survey testing and data postprocessing for thermal model calibration, engine certification, Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) efforts.
  • Effectively manage complex projects involving multiple organizations to successfully complete all assignments.
  • Support continuous process improvement projects within the organization.
  • Communicate technical results to internal and external customers.

Qualifications
YOU MUST HAVE
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in a technical discipline such as science, technology, engineering, mathematics.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in thermal fluid sciences or MS/PhD Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.

  • Advanced understanding of heat transfer including derivation of boundary conditions (heat transfer coefficients, adiabatic wall temperatures, heat generation), application of thermal boundary conditions, and running of thermal analytical models
  • Advanced understanding of fluid dynamics
  • Basic knowledge of using CAD tools to generate and manipulate geometry
  • Effectively work in a self-directed team environment to deliver customers requirements on time
  • Strong teamwork skills, able to work in variety of team roles within cross-functional team
  • Must be dedicated to customer satisfaction and demonstrated the capability to establish and maintain strong business and personal relationships with customers and co-workers
  • Must have strong written and oral communication skills
