Nestled close to the majestic Sierra mountains in the heart of California's San Joaquin Valley, the Visalia Unified School District is committed to providing students young and old with the tools and skills necessary to succeed in life.
Established in 1885, VUSD is the oldest school district in Tulare County. Our services span 214 square miles with a population base of over 135,000. Our family of schools includes 26 elementary schools, a newcomer language center, five middle schools, four comprehensive high schools, a continuation high school, an adult school,a charter independent study school, a K-8 charter home school, and a charter technical early college high school. Over 32,000 students Pre-K to adult are served through Visalia Unified School District.
Our outstanding workforce is comprised of over 3,000 certificated and classified staff. They make our district the jewel of the Central Valley.
Requirements / Qualifications
  • Valid Credential or Valid Permit
  • Active RN or LVN License in California
  • TB Screening Results
  • BLS Certified
  • 2 years of nursing experience (RN or LVN)
  • 1 year verifiable experience as a licensed nurse providing care & services to chronically ill or elderly patients in an acute care hospital, skilled nursing facility, intermediate care facility, home care, hospice care or other long-term care setting
PLUS Must have ONE of the following:
Verifiable completion of a course in teaching adults (3 ways to verify):
1.) Completion of a 24-hour course in "Planning, Implementing & Evaluating Educational Programs in Nursing" satisfies this requirement.
2.) Completion of a course approved by the Board of Registered Nursing (BRN) or by an accredited educational institution satisfies this requirement.
3.) A BRN continuing education course certificate used to meet this requirement must comply with the requirements found in 16 CCR, §§1450 et seq. OR Verifiable experience in teaching adults; OR Verifiable experience supervising nurse aides.
  • Certification (Vocational Nursing (LVN) License or Registered Nursing (RN) License)
  • CPR/First Aid Certification
  • Credential Copy (Valid/Current Permit or Valid/Current Credential)
  • Resume (Showing verifiable work experience. Must include work experience in month/year to month/year format, name and address of each employer, job duties, contact telephone number for Human Resources or administration, and name of supervisor)
  • TB Screening Result
  • Test Results/Materials (All certificates as related to position)

Comments and Other Information
ABOUT THIS POSTING:
Substitute instructors teach the Nurse Assistant Training Program at the Adult School and High Schools. This class uses the CA State curriculum to prepare students for certification as a Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) & includes both theory & clinical instruction. The clinical experiences are at local nursing homes.
The instructor is responsible for following all state mandates for CNA training, including compliance with state approved curriculum, instruction calendar & required documentation.
INCOMPLETE APPLICATIONS WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED.
Hiring Process:
1. Completed Application
2. VUSD will verify fingerprint clearance with TCOE
3. SkillSurvey Reference Process - You will receive an e-mail from SkillSurvey on how to complete the process.
4. Qualifying candidates will be invited to attend an orientation.
5. New hire CNA/LVN Instructor Substitutes will be set up in our systems: Employee ID, Email, etc.
6. PLEASE NOTE: This process does take several weeks
