Adtech Engineer information

What is an adtech engineer?

Adtech Engineers are technology professionals who design, develop, and maintain software systems used in the digital advertising industry. They work on platforms that enable the buying, selling, targeting, and analysis of online ads, such as ad servers, real-time bidding systems, and data management platforms. Their role often involves integrating advertising technologies, optimizing ad delivery, and ensuring compliance with privacy regulations. Adtech Engineers collaborate with product managers, data scientists, and marketers to deliver effective advertising solutions.

What are some common challenges an adtech engineer faces when integrating new advertising technologies with existing platforms?

Adtech Engineers often encounter challenges when integrating new advertising technologies, such as ensuring compatibility with legacy systems, maintaining data privacy compliance, and minimizing disruption to current ad delivery pipelines. Balancing rapid implementation with thorough testing can be complex, especially given the fast-paced evolution of ad tech standards and third-party tools. Successful engineers proactively collaborate with product managers, data teams, and external vendors to troubleshoot issues and develop scalable solutions that support the organization's advertising objectives.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an adtech engineer, and why are they important?

To thrive as an Adtech Engineer, you need a solid background in computer science, programming (especially JavaScript, Python, or Java), and a clear understanding of digital advertising technologies and protocols. Familiarity with ad servers, programmatic platforms (like Google Ad Manager or The Trade Desk), SDKs, APIs, and industry certifications such as IAB Digital Ad Operations are highly valued. Strong problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills help you navigate complex integrations and work effectively with product, sales, and analytics teams. These skills are essential to optimize ad delivery, ensure technical compliance, and drive successful advertising outcomes in a rapidly evolving ecosystem.

We develop products and services for use throughout the lifecycle of an offshore oilfield, from drilling to decommissioning. We operate the world's premier fleet of work class ROVs. Additionally, we are a leader in offshore oilfield maintenance services, umbilicals, subsea hardware, and tooling. We also use applied technology expertise to serve the defense, material handling, aerospace, science, and renewable energy industries.
