What is an adoption manager?

Adoption Managers are professionals who oversee and coordinate the adoption process for organizations such as adoption agencies, child welfare services, or animal shelters. Their responsibilities typically include assessing applicants, facilitating matchings, ensuring compliance with legal and ethical standards, and providing support to both adoptees and adoptive families. They play a crucial role in making sure that the adoption process is smooth, transparent, and in the best interest of all parties involved.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an adoption manager?

To thrive as an Adoption Manager, you need a background in social work or a related field, experience in child welfare, and often a relevant license or certification. Familiarity with case management software, state and federal adoption regulations, and documentation systems is typically required. Exceptional interpersonal skills, cultural sensitivity, and strong organizational abilities help navigate complex family dynamics and ensure effective placements. These skills are crucial for ensuring the well-being of children, compliance with legal standards, and building trust with families throughout the adoption process.

What are some common challenges adoption managers face when coordinating with multiple stakeholders?

Adoption Managers often work with a diverse group of stakeholders, including birth parents, adoptive families, legal professionals, and social services agencies. One common challenge is ensuring clear communication and managing differing expectations among all parties while prioritizing the best interests of the child. Additionally, navigating complex legal regulations and maintaining confidentiality can add to the complexity of the role. Building strong relationships and staying organized are essential to coordinating successful adoptions.

Job description

AI Enablement Leadย
Remote | US

At Nimble Gravity, we help organizations turn data, AI, and technology into measurable business results. The AI Enablement Lead helps clients understand, adopt, and realize value from AI. You'll work directly with business users, leaders, and delivery teams to ensure AI becomes part of how work gets done. You'll lead workshops, deliver training, develop adoption strategies, and help organizations build confidence using tools like Claude in real business processes.ย

This is a highly client facing role. You'll regularly be the only Nimble Gravity person in the room with a skeptical technical stakeholder, so you need to be able to hold your own on the mechanics of how these systems work, not just the change management around them.ย

What You'll Doย

  • Lead AI enablement programs. Help clients successfully adopt AI tools and workflows. Develop enablement plans that drive awareness, adoption, and long term usage.ย
  • Facilitate workshops and training. Lead workshops, training sessions, office hours, and hands on demonstrations for business users and leaders. Help teams understand not only how AI works, but how it can improve the way they work.ย
  • Serve as an AI advocate. Build excitement and confidence around AI adoption. Help stakeholders navigate concerns, answer questions, and identify opportunities to incorporate AI into day to day processes.ย
  • Hold technical ground solo. Field specific technical questions about system design, data flow, and failure modes directly, without deferring to "that's what the technical team is for." Know when and how a workflow needs retrieval, grounding, or human review, and be able to explain why in plain language to a skeptical audience.ย
  • Partner with technical teams. Work alongside engineers, consultants, and delivery leaders to translate technical capabilities into practical business outcomes.ย
  • Support organizational adoption. Identify barriers to adoption and create communications, learning materials, and other resources that help users embrace new ways of working.ย
  • Measure success. Define and track adoption metrics, user engagement, and business outcomes with real numbers, not just qualitative wins. Gather feedback and continuously improve enablement programs.ย
  • Navigate regulated environments. Help financial services and insurance organizations adopt AI responsibly while aligning with governance, compliance, and risk management requirements.ย

What You'll Bringย

  • 5 to 10 years of experience in enablement, training, consulting, organizational adoption, or a related fieldย
  • A specific, named example of something you built or configured with generative AI, not just a tool you used. Think: an agent workflow, a rules based guardrail, an automated triage process. "Used Copilot to draft emails" doesn't meet this bar.ย
  • Working fluency across multiple AI platforms (Claude, ChatGPT, Copilot, or similar), not expertise in a single branded productย
  • Exceptional presentation and facilitation skills, including experience leading sessions with executives, business stakeholders, and end users, with no one else in the room to back you up on technical specificsย
  • Ability to influence and engage skeptical audiences while building excitement around new technologies and ways of workingย
  • A track record you can quantify: adoption numbers, engagement rates, time saved, error rates reducedย
  • Experience developing and delivering training, enablement, or adoption programs for enterprise software, digital transformation, or AI initiativesย
  • A consultative mindset. You are comfortable moving from 'teaching a tool' to 'diagnosing a business process' and spotting where automation or AI assistance could unlock the next phase of work.ย
  • Ability to translate technical concepts into practical guidance for business usersย
  • Comfortable operating in a client facing consulting environment with multiple stakeholders and evolving prioritiesย
  • Prosci, ACMP, instructional design, or related certifications are a plusย

Strongly preferred, not requiredย

  • Experience working in banking, financial services, insurance, or another regulated industry. If you don't have this but bring deep AI build experience and strong solo executive presence, we still want to hear from you.ย

Why Join Nimble Gravity?ย
You'll help leading financial institutions and other clients adopt AI in meaningful ways. You'll work directly with clients, engineers, and AI specialists to turn emerging technology into measurable business outcomes. If you enjoy teaching, facilitating, influencing, and helping people embrace new ways of working, we'd love to talk.ย
