Job description

Poly-America, L.P., a leading plastics manufacturer, is currently seeking a System Administrator to join our team. Poly-America produces several lines of polyethylene products including high quality trash bags, and agricultural films.

We are expanding our IT team to keep up with company growth. Candidates need to possess strong analytical, interpersonal, customer service and communication skills, as well as the ability to organize and manage several projects at once.  This position requires a person to work M-F, 8-5, as well as a rotating on-call status.


  • Plan, design, develop, and support operations for core organizational functions and business processes
  • Gather and analyze data in support of business cases, proposed projects, and systems requirements
  • Prepare documentation by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information
  • Effectively communicate complete reports with probable causes and possible solutions to systems issues
  • Perform system implementation set ups
  • Collaborate in the planning, design, development, and deployment of new applications, and enhancements to existing applications
  • Coordinate and perform in-depth tests, including end-user reviews, for all systems and processes, and other post-implementation support
  • Monitor project progress by tracking activity, resolving problems, updating progress reports, and recommending actions
  • Manage tracking of IT Helpdesk tickets and work with the analysts to ensure key performance metrics are maintained
  • Coordinate upgrades and new system implementations with vendors
  • Maintain servers, load-balancers, and data storage across a variety of locations
  • Ability to travel to locations on a periodic and ad hoc basis 

  • Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in the field of computer science preferred
  • 5+ years Microsoft Windows server administration
  • 3+ years of advanced networking (VLANs, VPN tunnels, routers, firewalls, etc.)
  • 3+ years of domain administration (AD, GPOs, DNS, DHCP, etc.)
  • 2+ years of experience with VMWare
  • Certifications in Microsoft Windows Enterprise Products including Exchange, SQL, SharePoint, or Web Services preferred
  • Good understanding of IT operations, theories, principles, and practices
  • Good written and oral communication skills
  • Good technical documentation skills
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Ability to present ideas in non-technical user-friendly language
  • Ability to conduct research into IT operational issues, standards and products as required
  • Analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment
  • Able to work weekend and evening hours for maintenance and emergency work
  • Available for calls 24x7
