Job description

Level Required for Primary Skill  Expert (12+ years US experience)

Additional Details for Role           

We are seeking a highly skilled Production support DBA with at least 6+ years of overall experience with proven expertise in managing NoSQL databases (Netezza/IIAS , Cassandra, MongoDB) along with other multiple database technologies such as SQL Server, Oracle, IBM DB2, Mainframe DB2, DB2 UDB, Informix databases, Postgress SQL and CosmosDB database environments. The ideal candidate will excel in operational management ensuring database performance, reliability, and security for enterprise applications. This role requires effective troubleshooting skills and the ability to lead initiatives for database improvements.

Key Responsibilities -

Provide 24x7 production support to one or more database technologies across on-premises and cloud (Azure, Google Cloud Platform) environments via rotational shifts and on-call duties.

Administer, monitor, and maintain multiple databases technologies in production and non-production environments.

Implement and manage backup, recovery, tuning, and DR (Disaster Recovery) strategies across multiple database technologies.

Perform routine health checks, proactively identify performance bottlenecks, and optimize queries and database configurations.

Manage database security, user permissions, and compliance with organizational policies.

Coordinate and execute database patching, upgrades, and migrations with minimal downtime.

Collaborate with application and infrastructure teams to support deployment activities and resolve database-related issues.

Monitor and resolve incidents, including root cause analysis and documentation of resolutions.

Automate routine operational tasks using scripts or management tools.

Document database procedures, configurations, and support processes for internal knowledge sharing.

Required Skills and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.

13+ years of hands-on experience as a DBA managing either SQL Server and Oracle database environments.

6+ years of hands-on experience as a DBA managing Mainframe DB2 or IBM DB2 (LUW, z/OS Server etc.) or DB2 UDB or Informix

3+ years of hands-on experience as a DBA managing MongoDB or Netezza or IIAS or Cassandra DB or PGSQL or CosmosDB

Strong SQL scripting and database troubleshooting skills.

Automate and optimize routine operational tasks using scripting (PowerShell, T-SQL, SQL, shell scripting)

In-depth knowledge of backup/recovery, high availability (clustering, Always On, DataGuard, etc.), and performance tuning for both platforms.

Experience with database monitoring tools - Dynatrace, Azure Monitor, Nagios etc. and automation frameworks such as Ansible and Terraform .

Solid understanding of database security best practices.

Proven experience with patching, upgrading, and migrating databases.

Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced operations setting.

Ability to support DB audit requirements and license management.

Datawarehouse DBA skillset.

Excellent communication and documentation skills.

Certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Azure fundamentals, Azure Database Administrator Associate, Oracle Database Administrator Certified Professional, or equivalent.

Exposure to cloud-based database services (Azure, Google Cloud Platform).
