Our clients come to us with layered structures and real complexity, and they stay because our work is precise, defensible, and delivered with a white-glove standard.

Position Summary

We are hiring a licensed CPA or Enrolled Agent to prepare and deliver tax compliance and advisory work across a portfolio of high-net-worth and multi-entity clients. This is a hands-on preparation role. You will personally prepare complex federal and state returns from source documents through filing, review returns prepared by other team members, resolve notices and examinations, and work directly alongside the firm's principals on planning and structuring matters. This position is open for immediate hire.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare federal and state income tax returns from source documents through filing for individuals, S corporations, partnerships, C corporations, trusts, and estates.
  • Prepare supporting schedules, depreciation and basis calculations, K-1s, and multi-state apportionment workpapers.
  • Sign as paid preparer and manage electronic filing, including client authorization on Form 8879 and rejection resolution.
  • Review returns prepared by other team members, with sign-off responsibility for accuracy and positional support.
  • Prepare quarterly estimated tax calculations, extensions, and year-end tax projections.
  • Manage IRS and state agency correspondence, notices, and examinations, including representation before the IRS.
  • Support entity structuring, reorganization, and transaction planning in coordination with the firm's principals and outside counsel.
  • Identify and document planning opportunities across client structures, including basis, timing, entity classification, and multi-state exposure.
  • Prepare international information reporting where applicable, including foreign trust and foreign entity filings.
  • Maintain workpaper documentation to a standard that withstands examination.
  • Prepare and review financial statements and supporting schedules in accordance with GAAP where engagement scope requires.
  • Monitor filing calendars, extensions, and estimated payment obligations across the assigned portfolio.
  • Communicate directly with clients on status, findings, decisions required, and risks.
  • Track federal and state legislative and regulatory developments and translate them into client-specific guidance.
  • Contribute to internal process standards, engagement templates, and quality control procedures.
Required Qualifications
  • Active CPA license in good standing with the California Board of Accountancy, or active Enrolled Agent credential in good standing with the IRS.
  • Active PTIN, or eligibility to obtain one prior to start date.
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, taxation, finance, or a related field.
  • Five or more years of progressive tax preparation experience in public accounting or a professional services environment, including primary preparer responsibility on complex returns.
  • Demonstrated experience preparing pass-through entity, trust, and high-net-worth individual returns.
  • Working knowledge of the Internal Revenue Code, Treasury Regulations, and current IRS administrative guidance.
  • Familiarity with Circular 230 practitioner standards and preparer due diligence requirements.
  • Proficiency in professional tax preparation software, QuickBooks, and advanced Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong written communication skills and the ability to explain technical positions to non-technical clients.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and the discipline to document positions contemporaneously.

Compensation- DOE

Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Taxation or LL.M. in Taxation.
  • Experience with multi-entity holding structures and related-party transactions.
  • Exposure to international compliance and information reporting, including Forms 5471, 5472, 3520, 3520-A, and FinCEN Form 114.
  • Experience preparing estate and gift tax returns, including Forms 706 and 709.
  • Prior experience managing or mentoring junior accounting staff.
  • Ability to carry a full return volume through peak filing season.
Benefits
  • Career advancement opportunities within a growing advisory practice.
  • Flexible scheduling.
  • Competitive compensation.
  • Continuing education and license renewal support.
