FORT VALLEY STATE UNIVERSITY (FVSU), a state and land-grant institution of the University System of Georgia, invites applications for the position of Administrative Assistant/Office Manager.

Fort Valley State University, the only 1890 land-grant university in Georgia, is a comprehensive institution that provides an education to over 2,800 students including graduate students. The university is located in the town of Fort Valley in Peach County, the original site of the state's peach industry. JOB SUMMARY

Fort Valley State University Cooperative Extension Program (FVSU-CEP) is an educational resource dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for Georgians and beyond through researched based initiatives and programs. The Family and Consumer Sciences (FCS) area focuses on helping families in acquiring the knowledge, skills, attitudes and changed behavior necessary to build strong resilient families through programs. Our content areas include human/child development, parenting health management/wellness, heirs' property, and energy efficiency.

Fort Valley State University's Cooperative Extension Program is seeking an Administrative Assistant/Office Manager for the Family and Consumer sciences area. The Administrative Assistant/Office Manager will be a detailed oriented and organized individual who will provide direct professional, administrative and budget support for the Family and Consumer Sciences area.

MAJOR DUTIES

  • Knowledge and ability to perform modern administrative office management procedures and systems inclusive but not limited to emailing, scanning, etc.
  • Functions as a primary point of contact and liaison for clients/visitors, department and staff members.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, organize work and balance time demands with minimal
  • Compose, prepare, and modify documents such as memos and other correspondence when necessary.
  • Plan and attend meetings to take detailed minutes for distribution as requested
  • Schedule and coordinate meetings, appointments and travel arrangements when
  • Process electronic requisitions/contracts. Travel and expense reports through PeopleSoft for FCS Cooperative Extension
  • Assist with extension program and events coordination
  • Process Personnel Action Notices for hiring student workers
  • May act as or support facilities coordinator (Childcare and Family Development Center)
  • Retrieve mail from campus post office as well as distribute mail to various office as
  • Performs other duties as

KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED BY THE POSITION
