Job description

General Description:
The purpose of this job Class within the organization is to provide active and current support, design and development for core computer & data services, and all applications within the control of the Information Technology Services Department. This Class job is proficient in all Microsoft Windows and Linux system administration activities and duties required to maintain, support, and troubleshoot enterprise-wide data centers, server farms and data repositories. This class works independently, under limited supervision within the PAD division, reporting major activities through periodic meetings.
Note: Work hours 8:00AM - 5:00PM, Monday - Friday Unless required to be adjusted for business needs. Also responsible for on-call after-hours support as required
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
Associates or Bachelor of Science degree preferred, or equivalent Experience & certifications obtained, with 3 years of growth shown in progressive responsibility. Requires progressive responsibility and experience within the job description outlined or a closely related or associated field. The equivalent combination of education, training or related work experience may be considered.
Special Certifications and Licenses:
Valid Driver's License Must obtain FBI / CJIS security clearance and bi-annual certification. MCSE; MCSA; RHCSA; LPI; HyperV; CCP-V; CCNA; CCNP; Network+; CompTIA Security+; any Rock Hill equipment Vendor Computer certifications preferred.
Desirable Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity principles, compliance requirements (e.g., PCI), and vulnerability assessment.
  • 50% of the time will be devoted to basic System Administrator supporting and maintaining of the existing diverse city server farm and applications.
  • The other 50% of the time will be devoted to helping to design and build out data servicing and integration applications. It will require full understanding of SQL; Power-BI; Power automate; PowerShell Scripting; and Python scripting to maximize integration and exchange between our ERP, Utility management sand other City core systems. Knowledge of Spatial GIS Systems: ESRI and Cityworks; and the Utility management systems is a plus.
  • Exposure and understanding of enterprise systems including: o All Microsoft Azure and Office 365 suite of products o ERP systems (Cayenta: CU, CF, HR, PA, CSS, CE, MWM, APIs) o Business Intelligence tools (Cognos, Power BI) o Database systems (SQL Server, data modeling) o SharePoint (data repositories, workflows) o Utility systems (MeterSense/SmartWorks MDM, TUNet/Tantalus AMI) o Telephony and IVR systems (e.g., Invoice Cloud, DataVoice)
  • Skilled in SQL and application process scripting and database querying, Power BI (reporting and dashboards), scripting languages such as Python, PowerShell, Power Automate, etc., permission management, server maintenance, upgrades, and backup infrastructure.
  • Strong analytical skills to evaluate, extrapolate, and resolve complex technical issues.• Ability to analyze data presentation services for performance and security.
  • Ability to oversee upgrades and new technology implementations.

  1. Server standup, management, patching and day-to-day support of Windows 2016, 2011, 2025 versions and Redhat.
  2. Responsible for one or more support channels: Exchange, SharePoint, file services, SQL, TEAMS, HyperV, AZURE services, etc.
  3. Lead or assist on project teams.
  4. Day to day Management, control and troubleshooting of AD /LDAP structure
  5. Helps design, support and troubleshoot O365 / M365 environments and services.
  6. After hours technical support on call rotation responsible.
  7. Evaluate and research solutions technologies.
  8. Proficiency in all Windows & Linux system server environments, from install, maintenance, and support.   10. Works with customers to develop deliverables, then to evaluate and research solutions technologies, propose, and quote and, if accepted integrate into existing services.
  11. Assist in devising and building complex options or design as required to address a technology need.
  12. Responsible for Security across any core services, servers, or system supported.
  13. Responsible for DR & HA postures and capabilities for assigned core services.
  14. Support consultant and advisor to manager and various customers as instructed.
  15. Documents, trains, and supports data services and the customer base served.
  16. Performs all other duties as may be assigned to meet organizational needs.
