Job description

Plant Controller Summary: This role is a senior-level accounting/finance position focused on plant financial management, reporting, and analysis within an automotive manufacturing environment.

General Accounting & Close

  • Lead monthly, quarterly, yearly closes
  • Prepare and review journal entries & accruals
  • Perform balance sheet reconciliations and prepare additional journal entries. Adjust Balance Sheet Accounts for Accruals
  • Prepare and Validate trial balance & financial statements. Able to explain Financial Statements
  • Define allocation methodology
  • Reconcile HFM vs SAP
  • Support audits and compliance (SOX)
  • Provide information about inter- and intra-company discrepancies


Management Reporting

  • Perform variance analysis (actual vs budget/forecast)
  • Analyze performance by plant/platform
  • Provide insights to local leadership
  • Create and distribute management reports


Cost Accounting/Inventory Accounting

  • Manage inventory valuation and movements
  • Reconcile physical inventory
  • Analyze inventory variances and losses
  • Maintain inventory accounting processes


Finance

  • Support tax, accruals, and financial controls
  • Monitor operational financial performance
  • Ensure accurate inventory accounting across plant


Fixed Assets/Project Accounting

  • Manage capital expenditures (CapEx)
  • Track projects vs capital asset requests
  • Decide on capitalization + CIP settlement
  • Handle asset retirements, write-offs
  • Support capital grants and reporting
  • Summarize capital expenditure plan for plant > ( Preparation & Authorization)
  • Interact with program controller & CBUs for plant to create correct input
  • Verify fixed assets inventory and request adjustments


Consolidation

  • Prepare and distribute financial information

Budgeting & Forecasting

  • Build and review budgets and forecasts
  • Collaborate with operations & business units to review profit plans, forecast, and receive & verify budgeting assumptions.
  • Develop planning & budgeting assumptions for the plant
  • Support profit planning


General

  • Apply, execute and maintain function related BOS issues
  • safety/ergonomic committees, participating in safety Kaizen events, participating in safety audits and safety observation feedback events.
  • Complete safety inspections, employee observations, and monthly safety training as assigned.


Plant Controller Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required
  • 8+ years in Accounting/Finance with a strong Manufacturing background.
  • Strong preference for: Automotive manufacturing & Plant finance environment.
  • Fluent in MS Office applications, Advanced in MS Excel.
  • Experience with ERP's: SAP and HFM applications preferred.
  • Strong understanding of SOX / internal controls
